I was the poor soul that last year that wasn’t able to go to the rampage because of work So this I year I stopped working on Saturdays less money more fun.
Hey if I going to loss my job I’d rather be skating while losing it.
I have been to some awes competitions but this is one of the best in NYC. Rather than create everything on solid round it use objects that are around you and gets you into doing better every time. I always say that I am going to do it next year but I’m never able to get the nerve for it.
I like how Reda was giving out money by trick Alex from Etnies footwear said that they did that last year too. Maybe it will be on Wednesdays with Reda I think it got enough good footage for it to get on his show.
From the bands to the raffles it was a great skate jam the only thing I think could be improved was the weight of the pieces to prevent for sliding too much.
Thanks to Billy from Open Road, and Alex for Etnies for holding down the bullhorns I know Steve Rodriguez from 5Boro would be proud.
Ok last thing of the day then I'm done and will punch out for the day.
So I outside of the place Red bull rented out for the manny mania party on canal. And me and Stevie williams is chill he's smoking and some gold digger are trying to talk to him and get in his pockets for some money.
this young kid comes up to us and ask for a smoke so I said "no", Stevie friend says "no" and this is why I love pros because he said.
I quote" Man Are you even 12 yet? "
thank god for Pros and guys like Stevie that keep this industry fresh.
Some young skaters are little slimy sticky kids that really care about anything except
Eating, Sleeping and Skating until theirs knees give out. You see them all the time at skate
competition trying to get free stuff. They are not strong enough to get the bigger products like boards,
wheels, shoes and t-shirts yet so they grab the stickers then run like hell so the bigger skaters take their stuff.
Some how these are the kids that will one day turn into Local Pros or Skate shop Owners that will either one day beat you in a game of skate or tell you can't skate for the shop. If you ask nice or come hang around them enough maybe they will give you sticker or free gear. They are sometimes the most dedicated members of this industry so threat them well.
Pros and Joe's like me work side by side to keep this industry growing so that the next group of sticker
kids. So the next time you see a sticker kids don't take away his stickers because he/she might be a soon to be legend.

Afro-punk is a platform for the other Black experience, the one we don't see in our media. D.I.Y (Do It Yourself) is the foundation.
