Afro-punk

Afro-punk

so now the festival has passed and all the moshers and punks have worn themselves rugged cheering for their favorite bands. I want you to stop, take a deep breath and recap whatever day(s) you went to the festival. and then tell me about the bands you liked, memorable moments, pits, demos, bails, and other random facts that you liked (or disliked) about the festival.

I went to the Afrika Bambaata afterparty and the Primordial Punk Debutante Ball. Both were fabulous! Everyone showed mad love, and I will always be coming back for more!

The music was kick ass as usual, and the movement is surely growing. Keep on f%^kin sh^t up folks!

I attended two days: Saturday, July 5th and this past Saturday, July 12th.

While I enjoyed both days, I think the 12th was the superior showcase for a two reasons:

1. Forte Greene Park was a great location for a concert. Great outdoorsy feel, lots of room to sit or stand.

2. Less downtime between sets an enjoyable DJ (Harry).

What I liked about the 7th:
1. BMX/Skateboard showcase. We need this throughout the entire show.

What I liked about BOTH:
1. The free drinks! One of the worst aspects about concert-going i spending 5 bucks on a bottle of water - THANK YOU for making life so much easier.

The only thing I didnt like was the DJ set on the 7th. I think the DJs should be between set entertainment - I'm coming to Afropunk to hear some grinding!

Regardless, I had a great time. GREAT. Too bad we have to wait an entire year for another fest - any chance of this becoming a twice a year event?
