Afro-punk

Afro-punk

We have been very busy lately with everything that a band has to do along with our personal lives that we have neglected a lot of what this site has to offer: Communicating with the listeners. Aside from the bulletin blasting, We haven't tried to reach out to you guys individually. That will be hard considering that we have over 10k friends on myspace and continually growing numbers on Afro-punk, Imeem, Ourstage, Purevolume and Facebook (there are other sites we're a part of and it's hard to keep track of them all). Links to the pages will be posted at the end of page. Anyways, please fell free to reach out to us for whatever reason. We're a social bunch :)

We appreciate your patronage. Actually, so much, that it inspired a whole new record that we plan on recording very soon. Look through our previous blog postings for more info about its concept. We're very excited and may perform these new songs within the festival shows ;)

We have posted all the tracks to our debut full-length, Umm... Yea for your listening pleasure/distaste as well as made Dirty Elvis available for download on sites that allow for all the tracks to be heard/downloaded. We will probably randomly choose a song every other week to make available for download. So, keep checking in.

We will be performing at various festivals and fundraisers in Harlem and Brooklyn in NYC and Connecticut within the next few weeks. Please check out our show listings and myspace page for links to the respective festival pages/sites for more details. If not, you will, more than likely, see an event invite or bulletin about it.

The photos that We've just posted are from our recent shows in New York at Arlene's Grocery mostly taken by Ed Marshall who tends to be a ghost photographer. We were happy that we were all finally able meet him in person and chat for a bit. Ed has been in the biz for a while and, obviously, has interesting and very valuable perspectives. Other shots that have been taken are from a close friend of ours, Kwaku Kufour (please check out the photo descriptions to read the credits). He's another, awesome, versatile photographer worth every dime that has gone unnoticed, but very credited. Another to look out for is Martha Quiros, she tends to keep herself out of the loop, but when she's in, she's in. Check out Kwaku, Martha and Ed on the sites listed below.

Afro-punk is a platform for the other Black experience, the one we don't see in our media. D.I.Y (Do It Yourself) is the foundation.
