Afro-Punk American Fangs- Living a Great Life in the Fast Lane

If the equation for a promising new rock band includes great musicians (their "fuck corporate" lyrics make you want to quit your day job), extreme energy (they throw up from exhaustion after almost every set), fancy body art, and just rugged bad assness (the lead singer, Gus, pissed in a beer bottle during this interview), then the American Fangs are fit for a sure formula of success. Comprised of five guys from Houston, Texas- Gabriel Cavazos "Gus" as the lead singer, Kenyon Puttenney on guContinue

Jon 2morrow Today/Tomorrow: 5th Annual Afropunk Music / Film Festival 2009- Day 1 (July 4th)

Saturdays has always been the day to sit out in the sun and feel its rays upon a soon to be tanned skin. Afropunk has always given you something else to do with that spare time by offering this year three days of music, drinks, sports and a good time with complete strangers. Afropu… Continue

Jon 2morrow Today/Tomorrow: Epic/Smash @ Webster Hall June 30th,2009

Today/Tomorrow: Epic/Smash @ Webster Hall I never really understood the dance called moshing. The two step that involves the entire body to become in sync with the rhythmic pattern of the drum. However, this tempo, unlike the tempos you usually here on the radio, is a unique sound that many people seldom hear anymore, a sound passed down from the hazy days of the late 70s. Legends such as Pure Hell, Bad Brains and Living Colour create this scene that has quickly transformed throughout American… Continue

Jon 2morrow Today/ Tomorrow: The BET Awards 2009

Watching the BET Awards made me realize a couple of things last night. For one, Jamie Foxx did his best being the sharpest nail in the nail box. In all of his tributes to the late and great king of pop Jamie Foxx still tried to be as positive as possible, even with all of the dropped cues (the entire show), weird skits (Baby Boy skit), shameless plugs (Alicia Keys how dare you) and bad cursing habits (shout out to Lil Wanye and The O'Jays) the show had within the “jam-packed” award show. Now th… Continue
