- Cipher was formed in 1996 by long time friends who wanted to bring something new to underground music. As the group developed artistically and politically they reasoned that art can and should have a serious social mission. That mission, coupled with the band's unique blend of diverse musical conventions, create Cipher's signature sound. Elements of hardcore and metal are woven with melodicism and politically radical lyrics to form a provocative, probing treatment of race, gender, and class.
Cipher embraced a DIY work ethic that has led them to self-release many of their earlier recordings and embark on numerous tours of the US. Cipher's latest offering, "Children Of Gods Fire" (Uprising Records 2005), has gained critical acclaim as an unrelenting, neo-revolutionary musical statement.
Currently the band is working on the follow-up to "Children of God's Fire."
Cipher is committed to opening critical spaces in underground music and reawakening the legacy of dissent embedded in every hardcore, punk , or metal riff.

Hi! My name is Jay B. Walker A.K.A. Zyyro. I am an artist, activist and director in film and tv who left the security of working in TV in NYC to keep my sister's ATL based non-profit alive. .A passion for change fuels my life. It fueled my sister's life too. She was a Doctor, Classical Singer and a Filmaker Educated at Howard University. A true Renaissance woman.
From Medicine to Music to Movies.....she did it all and started a non-profit in ATL to create excitement about learning through teaching film production.She supported it out of her pocket from 1997 til passing away in April 2008. I am attemptinng to keep her dream alive and continue making "CHANGE" a reality. I need your help though.
