We should jam sometime. I have to get my music equipment back from my neighbors first though. Bloody fire displaced me and all of my gear in different parts of NYC.

I'll try to make it out to the show next week.

Takes it easy!

I used to be well versed in Nadsat but now I can only squawk a Malenky bit.

My guitarist is out of town this week into next week so unfortunately I would not be able to play any of the spoon theatre shows. If you plan on throwing some Afropunk shows in March I'm sure I could help you find some artist and help you Promote the show. I'm looking for an excuse to help make Afropunk a Dominant scene in NYC.

Profile Information

Name
Shamari Rockca
About Me
Upon graduating college from California State University, Sacramento with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism, and a minor in Performing Arts in the year 2000, Shamari Rockca began his performance career as a singer-songwriter that same year while living in an art-studio in Hollywood, CA with other artists who wanted to create music for independent art house films. The song: “Emmett’s Gorilla Cage” co-written by Shamari Rockca is a song contributed to an independent film titled: “I Kill People for Money” released in Sacramento by an independent film company headed by Ryan Finnerty in 2006.

Over the years, he has gained experience as a background singer for a rhythm & blues band named Armani and also was the lead singer and writer for his own band called The Prosulas which was formed in Sacramento, California in 2005. While collaborating with various artists over the years The Prosulas was able to release a demo to national radio stations that catered to newly discovered unsigned artists. A year later one of the stations, WFMU.org located in Hoboken, New Jersey, nominated The Prosulas demo as best release for independent artists in 2006. It is now currently being played around coffeehouses throughout the world as it is available on streaming media for the independent—acoustic soul, r&b, afro-punk and alternative folk rock outlets. The Prosulas demo, Lunar Mansions is currently available for download on iTunes and has been reviewed by Spanish Rock Zone Magazine.

After a few years of living in San Francisco and playing numerous venues around the city, Shamari Rockca set out for a solo tour through Chicago, Atlanta and now New York where he is currently living. Just recently Shamari Rockca signed with Unfortunate Miracle Records and recorded a full length album titled Ataska with a Brooklyn based sound engineer now released December 2008.
Additionally, Shamari (The Rockca) Roberson is a recent published author of historical fiction works. The new novel is titled Ataska and is currently being sold worldwide through Barnes and Noble and Amazon Books. Be sure to pick up a copy.
