Shadz Of Red, having quickly cemented a reputation for their electrifying live shows, not to mention an impressive body recorded work. As one prominent A&R Rep recently said of them, "Shadz Of Red is the truth."

The brainchild of singer/guitarist/songwriter, Shadz, the enigmatic and multi-talented driving force of the band that bears her name, Shadz of Red is re-defining New York City rock. Ask the band, however, and they are quick to specify themselves as "a Brooklyn band." Good enough, since Brooklyn is the borough incubating all that is revolutionary in the city's art and music world. The word rock might be misleading, too. Certainly, this is a band capable of playing almost any style with equal power and skill yet, neither do they shy away from rock and all that it implies. Labels, genres, pigeon-holes. Shadz Of Red has no time for it. They do it all!

See them "live" and you'll soon see that this is a band unlike any other, a band with a message and a purpose. Sexy, psychedelic rock is just one way to describe it. It is the color of anger and the color of love. It is the color that runs through our veins ... and these are the Shadz Of Red.

Shadz oozes the kind of self-assurance and stage presence found only in performers of a certain destiny. It's there in the tough, sensual, intelligent and motivating lyrics she pens which frame the human condition by touching upon feelings and truths in a way that could only come from having lived the words she writes. Still, there is much more to Shadz of Red than Shadz alone. Each member brings something potent and singularly unique to the table. Take famed New York underground poet/songstress Kstarr for instance. Her raspy, emotive vocals and riveting stage persona are the perfect foil for Shadz. It's down to chemistry and it's all there. Baassik anchors the bottom-end in Shadz of Red, delivering jaw-dropping bass runs . Baassik and new Shadz of Red drummer, Mr. Kilt, form one of the most powerful and pocket-oriented rhythm sections anywhere. Background vocalist, Jodi, gives the band a foundation rich in classic soul influences tempered with a forward-leaning interest in new sounds. Add to this eclectic mix of musicians, guitarist, Drew Vox, a devastating multi-instrumentalist.

Listen closer and you'll hear a brilliant osmosis as the band incorporates artists like Bob Marley, Me'shell Ndegeocello, Bootsy and the Motown canon into the mix without ever sounding derivative. Shadz of Red has an authenticity lesser bands can only try to imitate, this is a band that is leading the way, not following. They are primal, it's true, connecting with their audience in real and tangible ways, Still, there is a subtle sophistication at work here, a lyrical savvy and instrumental cleverness born of musicians with the innate alchemy required to forge something completely their own.
