- About Me
- My name is Idrissa Ekundayo - I have an MFA in Creative Writing and Writing for the Performing Arts: Screenwriting, Playwrighting and Poetry. I have headlined on three continents and have been in newspapers of every city i've performed in... I was first introduced to the arts as a writer jotting thoughts that became poems - those prayers manifested on stage... I fell in love with the black box which then led me to create my own pieces which led to graduate school... - Performance Artist, MC, Singer and Writer: Screenwriting, Playwriting, Poetry - i was working in retail but after being robbed at gun point - thought a little differently about that...

- Bob Marley and The Wailers saved my life, Jimi Hendrix and the Band of Gypsies taught me how to be free, Funkadelics showed me levels to that freedom, Bootsy's Rubber Band and the Isley's taught me how to rep for my city, the Ohio Players can't be fucked with - Blood Sweat and Tears - individuality of sound and truth in the music... As a representative, Saul Williams is a beast - Joy Division was the shit got hipped through a movie and Bad Brains was a great introduction to the game - pure punk a little to fast for me, Ice-T and Body Count, that gangsta rock shit back in 91 was nice.. Buena Vista Social Club the style the rhythms - - capoeira man - music, the energy period - - i'm all over the place with this - i got Maggot Brain's without the pyschadelics or cocaine - but my style is pure LSD! fuck with it... (smiling)

Away, Bukowski, Slam, ZOO BABIES DOCUMENTARY, Ronin - i like neo-noir, japanimation, any science-fiction or cgi, greenscreen types - and transformers can suck a dick - especially part 2, The Ballad of Ricky Bobby is the shit...

- The Count of Monte Cristo by Dumas, Gibberish ( I wrote it - a choreo-poem) Twilight of the Idols and The Anti-Christ by Nietzche, Parable of the Sower: Octavia Butler - all of Chester Himes, Poems from Prison: Etheridge Knight - I wrote a screenplay "When Dey Left," i think it's amazing... Oh yeah the Lord of the Rings trilogy (got it in Briton signed by a black Hobbit from Hood Hobbiton - who sold me some hashish off of Labrooke Grove, where I met some cool illegals from West Africa... We smoked, freestyle'd and played gyembe drums...)
