About Me
Hey, I'm one of the first 25 members of Afropunk.com, have been a longtime supporter of the board and get the word out as much as possible. The board is like a second family to me. I'm also a cartoonist and will be sharing some of my drawings on this page as well. I'm happily engaged to my other half that we all known as CandyPink, she's my partner in crime the one that I want to take over the world with. That's the other reason why I love Afropunk.com
You can be my friend if...
You're truly an open minded person and not someone into the fashion side of rock. I'm cool with any kind of cartoonist, musician that truly appreciates there music and doesn't see it as some cheap, dime store hustle. I'll think of more things later.

Tech N9ne-KOD review

Ever since around 2002, I’ve been a fan of Kansas City, MO rapper Tech N9ne. His album Absolute Power was released on my 18th birthday, and that album changed my perspective on rap. I’ve even referred to his music as “progressive rap” due to the eclectic nature and lyrical references. Aside from Steve Vai, Randy Rhodes and various guitarists in Heavy Metal, Tech’s speed rap technique was very influential on my wanting to play faster guitar. A common theme through a good amount of Tech’s albums a… Continue

“Hotel Atlanta Incidentals” Part 2:
Meeting Your Idol That You Never Knew

Since this is winter, the days are shorter; nightfall is at 6 PM and this Atlanta night is freezing. As I’m walking out of the mansion, I noticed this older gentleman who was doing the smoke bomb effects earlier in one of the scenes of the video. I see him leaning on the rail facing the pool. Puffing on a cig and sipping on some… Continue

Prequel to "Hotel Atlanta Incidentals"

http://ghettopunkrocker.com/blog/?p=606

Wrote this last week:

Right now, it’s Thursday December 10 2009. I’m in Atlanta, GA right now at a Hyatt on business assisting out my sister out with some behind the scenes stuff for Dru Hill’s new video. Anyway, on the way down to Atlanta, it became even more apparent that the people we surround ourselves around really reflect us and we reflect them to an extent. I noticed the common ground between m… Continue

The Difference Between Bullshit and the Real Shit by John M. Ellison

I was online earlier checking my mail and one of the stories was about a guitarist that recently passed on. Since he was only 39, I’m thinking “Wow, kind of young.” The guitarist in question was Mat Arluck of Chicago band Sweet Cobra. Like most of the readers, I haven’t heard of them. After reading the article and listening to some o… Continue

November 1st 2009...Sunday Fuckin' Sunday!

November 1st, 2009…it’s the day after Halloween; Catholics recognize it as All Saints Day but it's also they day that the Afro-Punk Tour blew the roof off of “The Black Cat” in Washington, D.C. This tour is one of those events that will change your perspective on music. For those who aren’t aware of Afro-Punk, this is the time to explain. Afro-Punk originally started out as a documentary directed by James Spo… Continue
