About Me

Anthony Lawson Obi (born March 24, 1988) is an African-American rapper from Houston, Texas known by his stage name Fat Tony. Also known as Fat Tony Obidiyah Geofferey Jones, he is a Houston based rap artist known for his energetic, electrifying live performances and critically acclaimed recordings.

His debut release entitled the Love Life EP (released by Same Struggle Ent. on March 4, 2008) has been spread nationwide due to his online promotion of the EP as a free download, and distributions of the EP-CD through shows. Reviews for the EP have been generally positive[1].

His debut album entitled RABDARGAB is set be released in 2009[2] and features production from Dope Pope aka Tom Cruz of the Atlanta based rap group Supreeme.

Fat Tony frequently collaborates with his partner Smash Bro in the creative process and performances. Fat Tony and Smash Bro record under the group moniker The Bummy Teenagers, and have worked together since 2005.

He is the winner of the 2008 Houston Press Music Awards' Best Underground Hip Hop award[3]. He is also certified as an URB (magazine) Next 1000 artist[4], a list of emerging new artists anticipated to breakthrough.
