Strong Black Woman

I just read CocoaPussZine's last blog post. She ended it with "the strong Black woman is a myth". Amen! We are delicate and vulnerable, too. I immediately thought of an email sent to me by Rosenda. It is so powerful, I decided to post it here, word for word. Take the time to read it, AP fam. Reflect upon who you are as a Black person and how you treat yourself and the Black women in your lives. Peace.

While struggling with the reality of being a human instead of a myth, the strong black woman p… Continue

Damn, I sound like that R Kelly Trapped In The Closet video song at the end, don't I? ;)

Appointment. Time in which someone makes it a priority to earmark a day or or a certain amount of time so I can share information with them that I have been holding in and hurting myself with for 3-4 months now. That fucking hurts and really pisses me off. I'm tired of tiptoeing around being all sensitive and shit when I'm having to deal with needs in my life, even just basic friendship needs, on my own and I need some feedback and information from the others side of the depression pond. You feel me? I give a few days to see if I get the appointment call from that office or I have to call the office and DEMAND the APPOINTMENT.

Thanks. I definitely need your good wishes on Saturday, for that is when the show is. My buddy H and his nephew J cannot go with me to protect me from falling out crying or slapping his face if I get that close to him, but I think it's probably BEST I go it ALONE and FACE IT, my feelings as well as him. Do not know even if I'll be able to speak to him that night, but I definitely need to get this shit off my chest NOW. I'll give it a few days then I have to make an APPOINTMENT. Wish me good LUCK. :)

Thank you, CaliforniaAfrican. You are far too kind! : ) The reason I call myself NotSoPhotogenic is because I tend not to photograph too well. There are a million people out there who, for some reason, tend to not look all that great in photos, and I'm one of them (at least in my opinion). Some of the unphotogenic people I've known are literally stunning in person, but for some reason certain lightings/angles/expressions are less flattering to them. In terms of my own looks, I'm not the best thing in the world to look at, but I'm certainly not the worst thing, either. I definitely think I look better in person than in photos. Anyway, that's about it. Just aesthetics (and probably vanity issues, too), plain and simple. Peace.

Now that you mention, I can hardly remember the last time we had a "date." It was a movie ... maybe District 9 (?) We've had a lot on our plate for the last two years, and not much time ... anyway, another story for another day, I suppose.

Keep it right, keep it tight, keep the fight, and you'll be super fly!! Stay positive and remember the great life and love you have around you. It is much easier to weather any pains in life when that is your reality. I hope I have that support system in my immediate environment when the right ones come along but until then.....I truly appreciate the great and true friends, even if I only am able to see and contact you from very far away, like you and El and Stone and on and on and on, in the middle of all our busy lives, the fact you all still reach out to me and share my life experiences in conversation with me and teach me great important things and goals in life, it's the biggest blessing I have, along with my immediate family. Love you, Beya. :)
