MAN, I AM SO PROUD!!!!

I just got a copy of an album that one of my younger cousins put out. The name of his band is Black Joe Lewis & The HoneyBears. The sound is East Texas Juke-Joint blues with a punk edge. He's 22 years old and he's gigging all over. He's the singer and lead guitarist. Here is his myspace:

http://www.myspace.com/blackjoelewis

I'm going to get him to join AfroPunk. I think that he'll find a home here… Continue

Bragging Time

Okay, I guess I have to say it. My daughter won a pageant last night. She is the regional Queen of CYF (the youth group for Christian Methodist Episcopal churches.) Now, at the outset I have to say that this whole pageant thing pissed me off. Because of it, she was going to miss playing in 4 softball games and my son would miss one of his baseball games. I've been working real hard to get them to be exceptional ball players and any missed games hurts that progress. Especially because the whole w… Continue

1st Blog Entry

I have to say that I'm excited about this feature of the new AfroPunk. As many of you know, I have a couple of different blogs out there, one of which is X-rated. But, I think that I'll like this one better. I can write about anything that comes to mind and I can feel better about it. I've got to say that the post I saw on here by wheredawhitewomenat that involved the fan of Insane Clown Posse deeply disturbed me. It's not that I didn't know that poor, under-educated people existed. Hell, many o… Continue

Hi! My name is Jay B. Walker A.K.A. Zyyro. From Medicine to Music to Movies.....she did it all and started a non-profit in ATL to create excitement about learning through teaching film production. She supported it out of her pocket from 1997 til passing away in April 2008. I am attemptinng to keep her dream alive and continue making "CHANGE" a reality. I need your help though.

The logo and pics you see are of the 1st edition of my "CHANGE SHIRT" COLLECTION. A black vintage t-shirt that celebrates this new day and time. We've made a drastic change in Washington...we can make a drastic change in the world! I am attempting to do my part.

If I don't talk about their greatness, who will!! WHO?!?!? It's taken almost this long for fools to acknowledge Marvel movies wouldn't even be shit without the first Blade!!! LOL! Okay, I'll stop! I surrender!

And yes, I know about all his legal troubles. See, I've always been able to separate my love of his films from the jackass he is in real life. And even I can admit he was on some stupid shit if he thought he was gonna get away with not paying taxes. He'd have had better luck killin' a white woman in broad daylight!

"Hey, wanted to ask you something: You're a long time biker and I was wondering what you think about people who start riding when they're past 35. I never owned my own bike, but I would ride others. Never got my license or anything and I'm thinking about getting into it. What's your view? Inquiring minds want to know. L8R...."
Couple of ways to attack this one... If you're looking to beat the high gas prices and buy an bike - take the Motorcycle Safety Foundation course first.
http://www.rollingwheels.org/ - the MSF class in Kansas City, scroll to the bottom and click on "Basic Rider Course..."

The MSF course will give you real world experience in riding a motorcycle in traffic and emergency situations. You will learn a lot - I know I did, and I had been riding around for years without a proper endorsement. The nice thing about the MSF is if you pass it - you don't have to take the skills test at the DMV when getting your motorcycle endorsement. BMW makes good commuter bikes that last forever, and ride well in all types of weather (rain doesn't seem to phase 'em...)

The other way to get into it is buy a dirt bike for you and your boy and go out in the boonies riding. Avoiding rocks, ditches, and obstructions will sharpen your riding skills, and you'll have a blast. Initial training can usually be obtained when you buy the bikes at a good dealer.

Hope it helps. Everything else is good. Trying to get my son into a good school for Kindergarten - LA school district politics/policies suck, looks like I'm going private.

Just saw the Metalocalypse episode where it's the head deathhead's birthday and they are planning his birthday party. BAHAHAAHAH!! It just reminds me of that last Danzig concert I went to with my friend Janelle. Where during the intermission (after Behemoth but before Danzig went onstage) she smiled and told me "Rosenda, you are the ONLY one in here smiling and laughing and enjoying yourself. Everyone else to trying to look all hard and shit. " :)

Dude, you gots to chill. Change is good (sometimes). Reinvent yourself? I am not sure I got my prior invention quite down yet anyway so it's fine with me. BAHAHAAH. This new thing should be INTERESTING. Did you see Rape Whistles Vlog replies? She is HILARIOUS (and quite pretty!)
