That was an interesting essay. The theme that screamed out to me is sexism. Society sees Black women, Black mothers, as responsible for the "ills of society" and the "failure of the black family to produce productive members of society" because they…

Black fathers have already had their turn in the court of public opinion. The verdict: black fathers are fucked up.I just wish there was a push for some balance. Buffoonery or tragedy are the majority of what I see in depictions of blacks in cinema…

Where are the fathers? Are Black women so undesirable that no one is willing to "put a ring on it"? Are Black women too aggressive and mouthy? Do Black women emasculate men in general? Really??? I haven't traveled the world, but I've been out a bunc…

You're right, it's not solely a review of Precious!
November 30
This not a review. It's an indictment of the depictions of black mothers in the media. I think the author is on the right track and makes some good points but this is not a review of the film. It just uses the film as an entree' to begin her discuss…

Lets be real here. The novel Push and the movie Precious is definetly Art immitating life. There are many young women of all races who are dropping the ball when it comes to motherhood these days. Many of them are young, immature, women who probably…

Thanks for the music comment! You are simple PhreSh. You doing the most. I just had a queer film in several film festivals worldwide. It won awards and stuff. actually I did some of the soundtrack and my friends made it. It's called "Queerer Than Thou" perhaps our paths will cross and we can do something together :)

lol! Im still learning dude! thats the beauty of it all! I think falling and bustin my ass was the best way i learned everything i know now. It helps to also skate with people who are better than you as they can offer you tips and what not.

well i'd suggest that you get something not too expensive. I'd probably just go to a local skate shop and see whats out there. There's so many different kinds of skateboards ( size and shape) so the guy or gal working there should be able to help with your first one. You shouldn't one that hella expensive because you might not like skateboarding.
