YO! Just saw the nosering keyloid post. I had that same issue. I crushed up aspirin and made it into a paste with some water. Either that, or neosporin, and after about a week it went away. I currently have some keyloid action goin on with my nape piercing (after having it for like, 3 years and NOW it's gettin tarded) but whenever i put aspirin on it, it starts lookin better in like, a week. I should be more diligent about it though. Heard it'll take up to a month to go away. I have a BAD habit of pickin at it though :(

i've never had a keloid from a piercing, but i have from surgery. there are certain surgical procedures that can ALMOST get rid of them, including laser, but there is always a risk you can get a keloid from the procedure (your skin is obvious prone to them if you got one in the first place). you can lessen the appearance and toughness of them by massaging in coco butter or tea tree oil, and you have to massage A LOT, everyday. This soften the skin and will aid with discoloration. But i think once you get one, you will always have some sort of reminder it was there.

also, there are some holistic pierces out there that really feel around for the right spot and may even refuse in certain areas if they think you will have a problem. maybe you should look for one of them. i think that is why i have never had complications with piercings.

i used to think scars were the ultimate in sexy, until i got them, lol.

hope this helps.

Kala - I had a few issues with my nose ring and I think it is by far my least favorite piercing.

I would suggest a few things, because everyone's body is different.

Try not to touch it so much, I love touching my piercings....it's very bad. This includes over cleaning and cleaning with soap that may be too harsh. I was using antibacterial soap and I got a little bump. To make that go away I put tea tree oil on the piercing and then a chamomile tea bag that had been soaked in hot water. I did this mainly in the evenings. I also used Bactine afterward.

I haven't had any serious issues in awhile. I think I've had this piercing for almost a year. I currently use Dove body soap, liquid not the bar kind, to wash it. I clean all my piercings everyday and use a q-tip with Bactine afterward.

Some stuff may or may not work for you. Try different methods and products. Good luck!!

i dont know anything about keloids and i've never had trouble from any of my 13 piercings...well none that i didnt induce...lol. i will say this about stretching...take it one step at a time after 14. i went from 22 to 14 in one step which is pretty typical. also if you are doing it yourself use sterile globes and a water based lubrication. tapers are awesome of you want to go a few steps faster, but dont push it! band aid brand has a no ouch antiseptic that works great for daily cleaning. plain dial soap the first couple weeks is best though. hope this helps...post some pics!
