do tell, which tattoo (yours or someone else's) does a great job of combining beauty with meaning? and what's the story behind it?

for one of mine, for example, i found a boomerang painted by an aboriginal artist that featured a platypus on its walking way. an unusual animal for sure, but this is what the research told me, "The platypus represents female energy. Its elements, water and Earth, are also those of woman. Its balancing power and physical shape also correspond to the Native image of femininity, in that being a woman is about joy and openness, not envy or jealousy. It is the power of sharing kindness, flowing with the stream of life without the need of material goods." not bad, huh?

so, i got the outline of the boomerang across the top of my back, connecting my shoulder blades. color to come. i just like the idea that the things that i am, the energy that i give, and the way that i live are embodied by the platypus. and that, on a boomerang, it will all come back to me.

I like that idea...I really feel that people should get tattoos that really mean something and not just slap anything on their body. Its really cool you went and researched it before you thought about putting it on your body....

i think thats cool too, but i also dont think that your tat always has to have meaning i think that the most important thing that is 10 years you still dont mind having that tattoo saying hi to you everyday and i'm sure that if it has meaning then its easier to say hi back but i just have stars and stars are super cute so if you dont like my tats because they are stars then thats totally not cool i mean hell its just a tattoo
