Do you live out in the middle of nowhere, like the sticks? Come talk to folks who live in small towns & desolate cities. I started this group because: I'm nosy about small town people.

Hey Afropunkers, I’ve got a plan, and in order for it to work, I need your help.

Let me cut right to the chase:

Spring of 2010 in Louisville, KY: Afropunk @ Art Sanctuary!!!

I have a fantastic venue lined up, Art Sanctuary/Alley Theater... they're excited about helping create a holy-shit-kick-ass event along the lines of the Brooklyn event.

We’re going to show the AfroPunk film! We’re going to invite James Spooner down to talk about the movie. We’re going to book a couple of your favorite Afropunk bands as well as some local AP faves from our region. We’ll have art for sale, and live graffiti artists! Everything!!

Yeah, you heard me right. I’m planning on doing a smaller-scale Afropunk event here in Louisville, KY! Something for the AP’ers over here near Cincy, Louisville, Chi-town, Indy, Nashville & Memphis.

In order to make it happen, we need all kinds of help.

Foremost, we need sponsors for the event. If you own or know of any businesses who would like to get their name on our materials, shown on the screen, and get mad coverage in exchange for sponsorship of our event, that would be extremely helpful. Also if anyone has services to donate, such as web design & hosting, printing or anything else, that would be great too!

Right now we have the grand scheme of things posted up as several blog entries at: http://afropunkatartsanctuary.tumblr.com

you can check out the marketing plan so far as well as what we’re aiming to do at the event.

If you have any questions, hit me up at oreobarbie@gmail.com!

Thanks so much for reading, and please pass on the word! Show the website to other people.

Yeah, it sucks being in this situation and you got to find a way out of it. I'm so trapped, dude. I just wanna make a run for it to outside Baltimore or something. Other than drug dealing or bank robbery, you can't afford to bail on a place that is devoid of intellectual stimulation and cultural acceptance. I'm think Massachusetts, Baltimore, Seattle, Portland and Columbia, MD. Is Brooklyn too rough to live these days? I see that's where all the Afropunk meetings are happening. I have never felt so accepted anywhere in my life like I have been in the Afropunk community, so I'm hungering for more.

i live in macon, ga. i mean it can't really be considered a city we have no skyscrapers. lol. but the area i live in my friends don't like to visit cause it's so out of the way and we've all made the joke that it's the perfect setting for a scary movie at night. if u try to look up my house with google earth all u see is trees.

We aren't in the middle of nowhere, but we are surrounded by everything that IS the middle of nowhere. We feel you.

I live in Prince Rupert BC, 30 km south of the southern tip of Alaska. Its wet and chilly most of the time up here. There are very few heads of any type let alone punx up here, so its cool to connect with similar minded folks from all over like this. Thank you Caz. Any AP heads in Northwest BC anytime hit me up!

I started this group because I was inspired by the AP movie. There should be a big online city of people from small towns & you can no longer be alone.
