Is it just me, or do Rihanna and Chris Brown seem to already have something deeply tragic about them? Shame about folks who get so big and famous when they so young and stupid....
I didn't watch the Grammys, but I did see what M.I.A. had on via a few webpages. It was pretty comical, but she's still fire. I love her style and originality.
I remember back in the day, the big award shows were big events for me. So big in fact, that the next day at school, we'd all be talking about the show. Now, I can take 'em or leave' em. Most times, the only way that I know they're on is if I'm at home flipping channels and run past it by mistake.
One of my funniest memories as a teenager was when my ex-friend and I got all dressed up, showed up at the Shrine Auditorium and tried to sneak into the Grammys!!I havent watched the grammys in years. I still wanna go to them someday tho.

We figured that since we already "looked like rock stars", we could just blend in with the crowd and walk in--and then just take a random seat in the audience. The furthest we got was standing by some window where celebs were standing, having drinks. I distinctly remember that "new guy" in the Commodores walking over to shut the drapes.
I don't know if we actually thought we were going to get away with it, but it sure was hilarious coming up with the idea and trying to carry it out.

Afro-punk is a platform for the other Black experience, the one we don't see in our media. D.I.Y (Do It Yourself) is the foundation.
