1. i can be the epitome of socially anti-social and normally abnormal.

2. i have such little patience with technology, it's comical. Similarly, i'm online almost all the time, but yet i can't help but feel that this would be a much better world on so many levels if all computers were blown off the face of it.

3. If certain things go exactly as planned, i'm gonna be in school for the next four years or so. Part of me is super excited about this, but part of me feels a great deal of dread about it. However, at this point, if there is one thing i know all too well, it's what it's like to not have much formal education and be judged and devalued accordingly, so i'm trusting that it's gonna be worthwhile.

4. i was in 10 countries before the age of 5 where neither me nor my parents spoke the language or had any legal status to speak of. And no, we were not "travelling."

5. i'm just as much a hardcore punk rocker as i am a Hip-Hopper. But when it comes to both musical genres/subcultures, i find that i am much more in love with the idea of what they both could be then i am with the reality of what they actually tend to be in real life....and i'm saying this as somebody who has been deeply involved with both for over 20 years now.

6. If you think i'm smart, i can guarantee you that i'm much denser than you think. But if you think i'm dumb, i can guarantee you that i'm much smarter than you have any idea. So either way, it's best to not assume anything.

7. Ethnically, i'm a weird mix of Spaniard, Mapuche Indian, Russian Jew, Roma (so-called "Gypsy"), and some unspecific Middle Eastern ancestry (it's most likely Palestinian, Lebanese, Syrian or Jordanian.) But i was just raised as typically Latino as a kid can get raised, and both my parents being from Chile, that's really all that i identify as.

8. i really don't like most people at all. But if i love you, i LOVE you unconditionally, boundlessly and without measure.

9. i've always felt like i never fit anywhere. i find i'm too proper and straight-laced for the hardcore world of the streets, but waaaaaaaaay too grimey and street to ever in a million years be able to fit 100% in the so-called "normal" mainstream world. And i honestly would never wanna be too much a part of either.

10. i didn't watch any TV or mainstream movies for a good 5 years. i still seldomly watch either.

11. Most of the music i listen to was created before i was born.

12. i am thoroughly convinced that a cynic ain't nothin but a disenchanted idealist.

13. i still have not found what i am seeking in my life. Not by a long shot. But i AM thoroughly enjoying the ride so far, as much as i do find myself wishing it could be a little bit smoother sometimes.

14. Many people assume i'm a vegetarian, when in fact, i love my chicken and my fish. But i have not eaten beef or swine in well over a decade now.

15. Even though i am technically retired from the world of making music, i still constantly get the itch to form a band, play shows, put out records, go on tour, do all that shit. But it's too damn expensive, i don't have the time, and the music industry is a sick, decaying vampire that i care to have absolutely nothing to do with.....unless it's paying me LARGE.

16. i have six tattoos.

17. My dreadlocks are down to my waist.

18. i smoke waaaaaaaaaaaaay less of the green stuff than most people seem to assume. i'm much more of a drinker.

19. Most people seem to assume i'm Rasta. But really, i am not. i respect Rasta Far I tremendously as a worldview, faith and way of life, and many of my greatest teachers and role models are and have been of that faith, but i do not, cannot and will not worship Haile Selassie I (or any other man, living or dead) as God, nor can i bring myself to use the Bible as my guide through life, nor do i ever care to be associated with any religion.

20. i still don't know how to drive. But this spring (coinciding with my 34th b-day), i'm finally gonna start taking driving lessons and go for my license.

21. i think my relationship to work and to money are two of the most important things i need to work on.

22. i do not work well with people who operate in constant panic and crisis mode.....ESPECIALLY if they are my boss or supervisor.

23. i really hate it when people use the word "tolerance" when speaking of race relations here in Canada or anyplace else in the world. Tolerating somebody is not the same as sharing power with them, nor is it the same as genuinely respecting and appreciating them. If anything, it's saying those you have designated as "other" need to be closely watched, controlled and regulated, and that the same oppressive hierarchy must remain in place.

24. i often feel like knocking somebody out. But i find i never wanna actually hurt anybody. No matter how much i may dislike a person at a particular moment, i always find myself thinking of their family and loved ones first.

25. Some of you may think i have told you a lot about myself with these 25 silly facts about me. But i actually haven't told you anything.

(#12) Oh HELL yeah, that's a great point!!!

1) I was born on the South side of Chicago, but my family moved to the suburbs when I was three years-old.

2) I was born with a typical Euro-American name; I assumed my African name when I was 21. Amidst all my spiritual and cultural growth from 16 onward, I found it to be the most appropriate thing for me.

3) Three years ago, my daughter attended a trip to Australia and New Zealand for gifted students.

4) I started writing a play about Miles Davis's "dark period" of depression and drug-induced debauchery in the early-to-mid 1970's, but I keep procrastinating.

5) Considering the fact that my names come from different parts of the Continent, I'm quite sure that I'm the ONLY person in the world with that name. Google it--see what pops up. Yup--I wrote those articles.

6) Last summer, I drove a 18-wheeler cross-country. It was a good experience, but that life is NOT for me. I will definitely be keeping my license, though.

7) Despite my Afrocentric leanings, I have a deep appreciation for the arts that would not be considered "Black". Ballet really kicks ass!!!!

8) I worked full time as a middle school teacher from 1999 to 2004. It was a good experience, but I wouldn't go there again.

9) Yeah Clint, I think OJ did it too! It's pretty hard to deny. How can you write a book about how you WOULD have carried it out, had you done it? Sounds like a covert confession to me...

10) I hate the expression "keeping it real"; the only thing I despise more is hearing folks throw around "n*gga" and claim that it has absolutely NO relation to "n*gger". Hence, when people--MY people--throw around the N-word because they think they're keeping it real, I think I've reached my limit.

11) When reasonable, I try to stay in contact with people from my past. We might not get to hang out or trade birthday presents, but it's still a pretty pleasant experience for me. I also feel that it generally helps me keep track of where I've been.

12) Until a month ago, I've never owned a brand new motor vehicle. (When I can get the right pictures of it, I will post them here.)

13) My favorite cuisines are Ethiopian and Thai.

14) The week that I spent in NYC during the summer of 2005 was easily one of the best summers that I've ever had. I racked up some partying hours for my resume and I made some very cool friends that I hope I will get to hang out with again soon. Viva Afro-punk!!

15) When the Tower Records/MTS company closed their stores, it ended a long and strange relationship: For years, I worked there on-and-off while I was in college, but I even went BACK for the occasional inventory or seasonal job. I hated it, but I loved it... Now I know that era is over.

16) I think VH-1 should change the title of "For the Love of Ray J" to "Getting it on with Brandy's Brother".
Wait a minute--did he just say that he is a multi-platinum artist? I guess starring in a porno will always help record sales, won't it?

17) I'm going to start volunteering for community service. I've done it a few times, but I think I should make it a consistent thing.

18) I have some regrets about being very opposed to enlisting in the military when I was younger; I could have used the discipline--not to mention that G.I. bill. Student loans are a MF!!!

19) I own a very old cymbal that once belonged to jazz drumming legend Billy Higgins--I even got him to autograph it.

20) I play guitar, bass and different percussion instruments--some of which I can't find a definite name for--hahaha

21) My poem, "The Life Expectancy of a Butterfly" won 1st Place in DelCo Publishing contest in 1990.

22) My proudest poetic creation was "Dear Mother Dear", an ode to my grandmother that I penned the night before her wake. That actually took place on my birthday.

23) I used to think that so-called "reality TV" was just a phase; I think it's obvious that we're stuck with it. We can thank fame-starved buffoons and very low production costs for that. I think this is very bad news for our brain development--seriously. (Yes, I'm guilty too--haha)

24) I hope that everyone will make it a point to learn more about Martin Luther King other than the Montgomery Bus boycott and the "I Have a Dream" speech. I've been working in school districts since 1996 and that's about ALL I ever hear referenced. It REALLY gets on my nerves because his life was more than those two events.

25) Pale ale is the nectar of the gods--PERIOD.

#23 DEFINATELY. It's like saying, you are wrong, and disgusting and I'm just putting up with you because the law says I do. If there were no laws your ass would be swinging from a tree branch, prolly on fire.
