i read this book called "curly girl". it looks like it's for white people but they have some really good information for al kinds of hair types. that's where i really started learning about shampoo and "no poo". some people don't even use shampoo at all.

hmmm cocoapuss...you're educating me. I really liked Neutrogena's hair mask but the shampoo was ok until I found treseme. I'm not sure if Treseme anti sponge has SLS but if so I don't know what I'll do lol. I'm a hair snob too so I'm gonna do some research

Have you tried WEN shampoo they have on those infomericials? it doesn't lather up, all natural, and supposed to put moisture back into the hair. I am intrigued just because they have natural women on their commercials looking all happy afterwards but its pricey...

i don't use any shampoos with sodium lauryl sulfate in them. so that eliminates suave and neutrogena from the list. a lot of the chemicals in shampoos are not really good for your hair. they just make foam when you lather and people really like shampoo. i'm kind of a hair snob that way, if it isn't "natural and organic" it doesn't go in my hair.

HOWEVER. i have heard lots of good things about garnier fructis so i'm sure it's great.

Hey Junie-I'm not sure if your hair is like mine. I'm a very spongy 4b.....but i'd suggest not using Suave but only from my personal experiences...Ive been natural for about 6+ years now, and when I first started out I used suave cause it was like $1.50 at family dollar and the commericials were nice. For my hair, i realized it was drying and uneffective for my hair.My hair is already spongy and it needs almost triple the moisture of most people and my hair does not grow at all when it's dry. I'd suggest using neutrogena hair products (esp the hair mask), treseme(anti-sponge shampoo-THE GOLDEN GRAIL for spongy sistahs like me), or garnier fructis. It's a bit pricier but it mosturizes better. Another good one is dark and lovely 3 in 1 shampoo. Also the shea butter is an oil, it's supposed to lock in moisture not provide it. Therefore if your hair is dry from suave, it may not help much. The one thing you gotta think about when you have natural hair is you gotta treat it like a garden, water your "plants" regularly with creamy mosturizers and invest in wash AND leave in conditioners. I honestly don't even use oils unless it's like once a week for a deep conditioning if that and even then I can use Hair Mayonaisse and some leave in spritz to do a better job. If I feel my hair becoming dry during the day, I use my carol's daughter black vanilla leave in conditioner or If Im cheap use my Next Image coco-mango leave in/detangler spritz conditioner.

btw-stay away from any products with mineral oil too. They clog the pores and can stunt growth!!

Ive tried like a million hair products and spent alot of money to find my perfect products lol so welcome to the journey!
