This is a group where goths of color can gather. The only rule is to be kind to each other. Yes, this includes those who are new to the subculture.

Wowee! That Bats and Butterflies page of Haute Macabre is gorgeous! Yeah, definitely inspired by that, lol.

I was thinking about how "goth" is really a universal way of looking at the world- I think it's more inclusive if we try and avoid color prefixes but still saying "diversity" in the title is the hard part.

Bayou Goth? -Shrugs- I don't know, maybe something inspired by this: http://hautemacabre.com/2009/03/bats-butterflies/

Afro-Abysmal...nah too close to Afro-Punk
I remember some people throwing around the term "Ghetto Goth" when I was younger.

How about "Onyx Disapora?"

Yeah a blog is free and we can really get it out there.

I'm bad at picking names but I'd like something elegant- Dark Side of the Moon? I'm sure that's already being used. I just like a subtle reference to being minority goths.

I would also like to expand it to include more minority goths other than just black.

Actually, I think I like the idea of a blog better than a website and would be all for it! It would just need a name. There's already been A Darker Shade Ov Pale, Goths of Colour, and Ethnic Goth.

I've got a few ideas of what we could do. I suggest starting a blog about being a shade other than pale goth.

We could put up makeup tips, helpful advice, a personal experiences column- how to deal with not being white in a white subculture and a weekly feature on artwork by us and movies (style) and musical influences.

What do you all think?

Yeah! I noticed that as well. I remember her posting a message a while ago on the site. She said she was done with the Goth scene. But, from what I can gather I assume she's referring to the clubbing aspect of the scene. I hope she isn't totally rejecting the subculture. That would bum me out. :(

The site still can be viewed on The Wayback Machine thought.

I wrote to the morbid outlook webmaster to ask what have happened to Lucy Furr, who I think is the person behind the goths of color website and her reply was,

"As far as I’ve heard, she’s no longer in the goth scene and got rid of the site."

I wish more people would join Goths Of Color! It makes me sad to see something so cool and something that we all can relate too just disappear like this!!
