I did not know such a show existed until I was browsing through the horror section of Hulu !
This show aired in 2007 and was four episodes long, the finale culminated on Halloween '07.
There were two female finalists of color; (Asian) Jenny Jenson , and (Black) Lady M from Baltimore.
The "Blelvira" ( Black Elvira as she referred to herself.) only lasted two episodes
before being canned due to poor acting skills.
Jenny the Asian Elvira was one of the final three.

Did you see the show? ( you can see it on Hulu if you did not!!)
What did you think about blevira?

The photograph is of the "unlucky 13" which Lady M. was a part of.
Lady M. is on the far right in the photo wearing a short black dress with silver daggers
Did she ever stand a chance?

Wow.
I think if I ever got into burlesque I'd just rip off Elvira. ...then she'd have to sue me.
Vampira was the genuine article a great example of goth before goth (like Kay Francis) and Elvira was a casting call poser (?). But she carried it well. I like the hybridization between sex kitten and goth. That's what originally made me hesitant to declare myself or my style goth because it seems so serious but I got over it. ...or something.

Well, at least you'd get to meet Cassandra Peterson in the process of the lawsuit, right? And if you win the lawsuit you could go on to capitalize off of her image. :)

That is what's so great about the subculture. There's so much variety. There are some who enjoy the theatrical, fun, and spooky side more. And, there are some who enjoy the dark and mysterious aspects to things. Both are valid and equal in their perspectives. I think that Elvria and Vampira are great examples of that. I just want to clarify that I'm not putting down Elvira nor fans of Elvira. Just stating my perspective is all. :D

Hope I haven't offended anyone. :(

No, no, it's all good. ^__^

I think the different styles/likes/versions of goth is what makes it worth it. If the world were all trashy/tacky/gawdy goth I'd be rolling my eyes every minute. The variety makes it legitimate.

I caught the last couple of episodes on Reality channel this afternoon and I was impressed by how fun it was. Yep, totally a fan of that Elvira type thing. The last 3 girls, with the exception of 1, were all worthy of at least a part time gig. Also, seeing breasts all the time was an added benefit of watching it (guaranteed views!), makes me wish I had melons to display like that.. ..

I watched the whole thing. I recognized two of the women- Shelly, she was involved in pro wrestling and Asia. I'm glad the one who won did because she was spot on.
I'm surprised I'm was not the only 8 y/o girl put in a trance by Elvira's boobs. I think that's where my love of boobs originated.

The winner did seem like a big barrel of fun and she had great comedic timing !

I actually thought she was black for a little bit. She sounded similar to Lady M.
