I was thinking about M.A.C.'s Black collection or whatever it's called the other day, and it made me curious. I know black lipstick is just as cliche as velvet or a collection of Anne Rice novels but, have any of you tried black lipstick or gloss before? What are your feelings on it? If you are not a supporter of black lipstick, what do you recommend. I personally like dark burgundys or purples instead of black.

I wear depending on my outfits and/or mood. You might get a few commints like "are you all right" or "is everything ok". But other than that, depending on the brand, it's alright.

Yes, black lipstick is cliche. But, as the Lady of the Manners has said, cliches are apart of life. I enjoy making jokes out of my cliches and embracing them. Ahem, but to the topic at hand, I find that black lipstick can looks good on some and horrid on others. I think you'd have to try it out for yourself and see. A good cheap test run would be to use some black eyeliner on your lips. If you like the look on yourself invest in a nice quality lipstick. I hear Manic Panic has a nice black lipstick.

Personally, I think I look awful with black lipstick on. I tend to stick with shades of deep red and purple. Then again it's been years since I've tried on black lipstick. Maybe I should experiment again. :)

I found this good tutorial on putting black lipstick on. The only change I'd make is when putting on lip liner people with full lips should not draw outsides the lines.

I wore black lipstick before but not very often. Sometimes I like it on me, sometimes I don't. It depends on what I am wearing or how my hair looks. I mostly prefer my amethyst lipstick.

I loved my black lipstick- it really freaks people out. I used to mix it with burgundy. Or wear it straight black. I have a picture of young Fulani men participating in a "beauty contest" and that is what made me gather the courage to wear black lipstick. It looks good.

Chocolate- like dark glossy chocolate is a good choice too. To me, it looks wonderful- as most colors do- on darker people.

I have Manic Panic's Raven (and Vamp and a few others) but I would NOT suggest it. It comes off too easily and seems to vanish on my skin sometimes. I would get a halloween cheapie black or create your own shade with lipsticks and black liner pencil.

If your lips are full- like mine- if you wear foundation you can put the foundation over your lips and then apply lipstick over it. Built in illusion of a line plus your lips are already clearly defined.

Black on me is a little overboard because I have such a big mouth. I don't do it often.
