Bring it Fast Ed! When I finally Mandrill's "Just Outside of Town" I bugged on the loops folks got off it. Like the first song "Mango Meat" laid the basis for the JB's first song on their album "Straight Out The Jungle". And how Public Enemy used "2 Sisters of Mercy" for "By the Time I get to Arizona". I know Kanye used them for that track on his first album "2 Words" with Mos Def & Freeway and Beatminers used them for Smif 'n' Wesson's "Let's Get it On" from a Mandrilland track I can't recall the name of. I need that Mandrilland album on cd.

Now I actually heard an interpolation of "Fat City Strut" by Eric B & Rakim on their 2nd album called “Beats for the Listeners”.

One of my favorite groups of all time; saw them live about ten years ago, waving their freak flag in Fort Greene Park. And, lets not even get into all the samples hip-hop cats have snatched from them.

MANDRILL is the ultimate. Nobody combines Funk, Doo-Woop, Rock, Salsa, Reggae, etc. so effortlessly and harmoniously. I've seen them 3 times and they tear shows up still after four decades. Check all their records but especially JUST OUTSIDE OF TOWN. Good lookout Fast Eddy on the past work, I will be digging.

Anyone not familiar wth their stuff, check LIVING COLOR episodez w/ Sweet Toothe Jonez, "Fencewalk", early GOOD TIMEZ re-runz "Fat City Strut", or THE GREATEST (Ali's autobio-pic), they did da soundtrack. Ohh...of course sampled by P.E., Jungle Brothers, Schoolly D and mayB lotz moor. My favorite iz "Two Sisters of Mercy". If U dig WAR U will luv 'em. WAR if they were Afrocentric, east coast and more guitar. LOL
