Hey guys, this is my first time posting to this group (I think).
So I'm sitting at the house two Sundays ago watching the new HBO show, Tru Blood and deep inside, kicking my own self in the ass for not getting OFF (ON) my ass and writing. Why? Tru Blood is so close to one of the story ideas I had of my own that it goes beyond going back to the lab, but my story now falls to the scrap heap. And my other two stories that I've actually written some in?. Well they're ok for now, but my real issue is getting motivated. How many of you guys have had to deal with motivation and what, if you have found a good way of dealing with blocking or laziness do you suggest?

Yay!! I love this vibelicious word play and thinking minds....I wrote this a while ago. I was a lil' angry so it's vulger but then again so am I hope it's not too harsh ENJOY!!!

CULTURAL DECAY

BLACK POWER!!!
BLACK POWER!!!
Proud of my brown skin, my brown eyes, my thick lips, my thick thighs
But when I turn on my T.V.
I see my ass and titties on the screen

Sometimes I wonder if this was a part of Martin's " dream ",
or when Malcom said by " any means "
My culture has decayed into the most rotten of corpses.

Hip hop is me
Hip hop is we
Hip Hop Is Dead
It committed suicide with grillz and rims and my body as its commodity
All for the fucking American $
telling me what I can and can't buy with it's target marketing systems
When it's distributors wipe their asses and snort my dreams away before handing it to me.

And as far as we've come
We set ourselves back
Trying to enforce the value of the mind and words to the youth of our generation
In one ear and out the other as Top 40 chart artist tell them the quick riches
will get them fame, wealth, and all the bitches.

Cuz you see I'm out trying to make sure when I raise my fist you can see the shine
Not going to sell myself short just to be wined and dined
I can't even walk down the street without niggaz blown kisses and hisses
Telling me I'm a "pretty motherfucker".
What do I look like to my brotha your fucking cum rag or the mother of your future.
Take a step back and look at what your words have done to the rib that guards your lungs.
You expect me to love you and you can't even love your damn self.

My culture is voluntarily giving itself back to its master
The system bringing you down...?
DOWN WITH THE MAN!!
But who really controls the deals at hand.
(to be continued....)

Damn K!m\m/! You murdered that one! What you're talking about here is a recurring theme for alot of my recent stuff. People become so detached and they don't even realize what's happened to them. And then there's the small amount of people who do realize it but they feel powerless. It's like how do you break the cycle when you're caught up in it as well?

I love reading other people's poetry. K!m\m/ this is really* good. You have a grasp on using metaphors, personification and whatnot that I don't possess. You're descriptions are wonderful and the poem is great:).

wow, everyone is so talented... here's something I wrote a few months ago:

Dreams of black ink
Clones with business suits
Destined for greatness
Whirlpools destruct & recreate
The same nightmare each night
Daylight penetrates only to
Bring blind hope to wandering souls
Humans left are hardly recognizable
Selfish apathetic robots make for
The new mold of generations to come
A half-eaten earth rots steadily
Overpopulated and undercooked
Offices for forests, smog for oxygen
Smiles deleted like software viruses
Artificial sleep and quick fixes
I stand in my window and watch,
Blank.
