I am. Not too optimistic about succeeding but it might be the boost I need to get my ass in gear.

what it do? I'm so excited....I've been trying to verify my e-mail address for @ two hours....but I'm up in here now so it's all love. I write it's what I do best, I have a blog Hot Buttah which is still in it's infant stages. I'm a contributing writer for a local magazine but have dreams of one day starting my own. My main thing is poetry, journalism but I also dabble in plays, film scripts, short stories, thinking about a novel.....just expanding my craft as far and wide as I can. It's a pleasure to make the accquaintence of all you beautiful people and I hope that I can find a few kindred souls, inspirations, collaborators out the bunch.....PEACE

Um, hey peeps. Introduction time!
I'm Kera and write short stories and novels in my free time, mainly scifi, psychological horror, slice-of-life stories or some weird mash up of all those things. XD
I have hopes that some of my work might get published in the future...that is if I ever finish anything. lol

In Silence : Scenes from A Cab
On the cab ride home I am forced to look at you in a way I cannot comprehend right now, but it is indeed scaring me. This nagging feelings underneath my skin and getting to me wanting me to tell you that I am about to explode with envy on your new relationship. I waited for years to be your girl and look at where it has gotten me. Nowhere! I fumble through my pockets just to distract myself from your fluorescent beauty. It shines with so much love it hurts me to think that you use it with what’s her face. Yea that girl I actually saw stalking you outside the café on 3rd street. Who the fuck is she anyway? Why do you like her instead of me? I hate you with a passion right now, but instead of showing my anger I sit beside you in a cab holding your hand as you gently caress the inside of my palm. Why do you do this to me?

Warrior
by Wayne Acciacca

Early separation
Spousal alienation
Extended vacation
No place to go to
No occupation
Military trained, a
scrambled list of skills confused.
Mentally deranged,
Feeling angry and used.
Free food all around
But I panic at the thought
of going hungry, I must plot.
People want to help me
But I can’t trust authority.
The last time I did
Found a gun in my hand, they ordered me
to kill humans infested.
I poked around and found
We were only interested
In those Billions of Bucks.
So why should I give a fuck?
Won’t resort to stealing
But I can’t see a way out,
This feeling, cancerous doubt.
Shelters and camp sites, this identity
is wrapped too tight in my
soul. Feel comfortable now
Just playing this role.
So I let them push me away,
went into the desert and died. Then
decided to fly my angst on
Broadway for all to see and sigh.
I’ll force them to lie
to themselves when they look
at me and see the reflection of
their own insanity.
The hollow inhumanity.
This life is crying, dying, I’m trying.
Then I reach inside and
find I can pray to stay alive.
I'm In the park, it's almost dark
a couple of black angels light up a spark
They say, “Hey, You seem down, and not ok, bro”
“You need to meet Chief,
we'll go and get him,
then share a smoke."
Chief shows up,
delivers the Native prayer song
deep sounds heal deep wounds,
while he stays so calm
he was a warrior too,
had to kill in Vietnam.
Chief grabbed the tears out,
from my toes through my eyes
I let my fears out and heard his cries.
Chief takes my hand, I see the light.
“Are you ready to go?” he asks
but I cant let go and take flight,
I cling in fright.
I’m afraid to die, afraid of the light
So back through the labyrinth I go,
but the light wont
give up on me,
Don't ask how I know.

Hi writers! I am so happy I am here with you all! I am writer/editor by day and night. I am working on my 1st novel about an African American female punk activist in DC. I am super excited about it.

I also run the blog, DC Scorpiongirl about DIY culture, underground art, music, fashion, dance, and more, with a focus on artists of color around the world. You can read it at http://dcscorpiongirl.wordpress.com.

I look forward to talking more with all you writers out there. I love having a space for the Afro Punk experience. I've been punk for close to 20 years and it's great to see the community grow and expand! -- Willona
