Afro-punk

Hilariously I think it was the song Fuck The USA by The Exploited for me. The energy and non-radio friendliness of that song sucked me in and I started looking for punk bands at the record store. I had heard punk before that of course but I didn't even really know what it was until the nineties.

Before I heard that song, I thought no punk was "heavy enough" so for my heavy rock taste I stuck to metal.

Dead Kennedys and the Misfits.

If I can get away with it, I'll give Megadeth an honorable mention as well.

I don't quite remember but I think it was somewhere between The Distillers and The Sex Pistols that I got into punk.

So I guess that means they're overrated.
