I can't be the only one here who plays this game. I don't even want The Sims 3 (as if my circa 2006 computer could handle it, anyway) I'm so stuck on the Sims 2. I played the Sims 1 and was a total addict. When I *finally* got a copy of the Sims 2 I was blown away. GENETICS! And AGING!
I still haven't mastered the fine art of intertwining legacy families, tho. The kids never like each other (or ANYONE else for that matter) and never reproduce.

I wish I'd found out about First Born Syndrome earlier. ..the genetic clones of parents really bork up the game's atmosphere. Luckily, it didn't happen to all founding families because I usually mess with CAS each session.

Who are your founding Sims? Since I was high, I made 3 brothers and one unrelated female all living in the same house when i first got the game. ..between them all the brothers have around 30 descendants. ..the problem is now in getting people who aren't cousins to marry the 2nd Gen.

Scandals? As with the 1 version of the game, scandals keep you wanting to play. Me being a jackass made 2 of the brothers and the female romance Sims. That's my fav. aspiration. ..as they say "you are what you sim".

Hacks? Have you had a hack-related tragedy? I've had several. ..for the love of Llama. ..BACK UP YOUR GAME!

LOL... I was a fiend for the first one too.... I never got 2, but I DID get LifeStories, the standalone. I had to b/c my laptop won't play CDs for some unknown reason, but it WILL play DVDs.... and LifeStories is a DVDRom...I'm entirely too lazy & poor to worry about fixing it or getting a new drive. I thought I wasn't excited about Sims 3, but I lied to myself. I have to assume that will be a dvd-rom too, so I SHOULD be able to play that..

My question is this: Am I the only person who has to force myself NOT to make Sims of myself & people I know?

that's weird about your laptop. How does lifestories play? I've never checked that out. Is it more like a console version?

I have to FORCE myself to stop making me clones all over the place. Pretty soon all the offspring will look like me. ...can't really do successful version of other people so I shy away from that.

LifeStories is kinda like... Sims 1.5. A little better than the original, but not quite as good as 2. There are two story modes. After working your way through enough of Riley's story (the first one), you can unlock Vince's. Once you unlock them both, you can play either story or a Free Play mode. After you complete either story, you can play the neighborhood in Free Play too, meaning you can have up to 3 games (with 2 neighborhoods) going. It's pretty fun, but if you're used to The Sims 2, it'll seem like a step backwards.

I finally weaned myself off of the game after several months of incessant play, but lately, I've been wanting to start over. I had the same problem with The Sims 2 for PSP. I tried to explain to my bf how addictive that stuff can be.... how it can take you out of reality for a while if you let it, but he says it just looks boring, so I left it alone. lol.

Ah, I figured that about LifeStories.

Yeah, people say it looks boring but it's exactly the opposite. All the shit and scenarios you can get going at once, effected each other and every sim in the hood exponentially; it really is a mindblowing open ended game.

I had some senseless drama today- I went back to the first sim I ever made- a woman with the attitude of. ..well, Mortimer Goth and the mean Pascal Brother rolled into one. Now she's an elder w/ 2 kids living with her husband and his one daughter (via alien abduction). the 3rd daughter is the result of an affair with a much younger family sim from down the street. The eldest daughter is a teen and she's a romance aspiration w/ high charisma levels so she can talk all the townies with crushes on her into living with them. They were dirt poor and now they're rich! Too bad she's inlove with one sim, woohooing the other who's woohooing her sister's girlfriend who's also woohooing the first guy- there was a big fight in the hallway that was like a domino effect. All this and she's not even an adult yet!
Too bad her mom's too old to get in on it, she used to be a spit fire.[/geek]

I've had the game for awhile but i've only had 2 sims die of old age so far- they lived really long lives.

maaannnnnn...i JUST got Sims 2 last month and i'm not even looking at the third one because this one is sooo friggin fun and addictive! but is it just me or are there two Sim 2's. i have the most recent one with the better graphics but wasn't there a Sims 2 1st generation? i know i had it a few years back but maybe i'm mistaken.

my founding Sims are a character i made in my likeness and my "other half" if you will. we started off as friends but things have gotten hot and heavy. there's a lot of money rolling in now because i make them read constantly, but the house we live in is so small and we can't afford a mansion yet since we're always spending money.

as far as scandals goes, my character was caught "whispering sweet nothings" into a friends ear (i pressed it by mistake..i was supposed to click on "ask to leave") Trent (my other half) saw this and gave "me" the cold shoulder. it took me 2 days before he forgave lol.

haven't found any hacks yet.

I think you might be talking about The Sims (aka "The Sims 1).But you're version of The Sims2 sounds different from mine. There's no "whisper sweet nothings" pop up. ..I bought mine in 2006 and only have the base game-it didn't come with any expansions.
I'm not sure my comp can handle the expansions BUT I'd totally get Nightlife if I ever had the money.

Hacks are EVERYWHERE- Just google the term and you get lots. Hacks keep my game interesting.

I don't know if any of you guys do this but I can't play the game w/o user created custom content- custom hair (afros and dreads that actually look good!) different skin tones and bodytypes for more realism.. ..I love it!
I'll post some pics. http://www.modthesims2.com is the hub of it all for me.

Moar scandals.

If you can't cheat or hack, what's the point? Jeez. lol... I play straight first, but then I need to give myself millions of Simonleons so I can get everything I need...

When The Sims 3 comes out, I expect they'll sell 2 will ALL the expansion packs the way they sell the original now.

I love the Sims 2!! I have almost all of the expansion packs and a few stuff packs and I have The Sims Pets Stories. Night Life and Apartment Life are my favorite expansion packs.

I fell out of the expansion pack loop and didn't know about AL until a few weeks ago. It sounds overwhelming.

INCEST: Two in born game sims born to the two of the founders I was talking about earlier.

I noticed most of the sims I made were black and the neighborhood was almost all black. Had to start to rectify. Theese are just randomly generated sims.
