the female condom (plus a video demo)

so i was just writing about my experience trying out the female condom for the 2nd issue of my zine called cocoa/puss and just found this video. youtube apparently has everything. i was just wondering if anyone had any thoughts or experiences on the female condom. not for my zine, but just to you know, discuss. i don't think most people even know how to use it, and it's kind of expensive in comparison to the male condom. not quite sure i would do it again, but maybe.

I don't know if I would ever use one, that just seems like a flimsier version of the diaphragm= If i didn't want to go through the trouble of putting one of those in, I don't know if I'd use a female condom. And now that I think about it I don't like stuffing things up in there-lol. Oh, the irony or some other more applicable term.

I don't know why I just don't like female condoms for myself they gross me out- it seems easier to cover the thing the stuff comes out of than putting a trashbag-like liner inside of yourself. I understand they are necessary for some people- I had an asshole brother in law that wouldn't let my sister use birth control in any way and she had to get creative.

When I ran a street outreach program, we had all kinds of birth control on hand. Besides the giant bags of condoms, there were spermicidal patches (think Listerine breath strip that goes in your vadge) and femdoms. II never tried the sperm-tabs but we tried the female condom. Well, if you ever had sex in grade school using a sandwich baggie and a jelly bracelet, then you can relive the glory days with a con-dame.

Ah they're not that bad, but not a preferable alternative. I don't think this is a "fast one" you can pull to trick a guy into thinking he's riding bareback, as it's really obvious during use that you're fucking a Ziploc.

That's how desperate she was to control her body. She got caught and had one more kid before turning to my dad for help. I'm happy to say they're divorced.

i've tried it once so far. i just wrote about it for my zine that's coming out very soon. that wasn't a selfless self-promotion, but i will say that it wasn't my favorite thing. you never know if you have it quite right and it's really slippery. the rings kept sliding out of my hands so it was hard to even get in there. whoever you sleep with has to be REALLY patient with you. it does feel like a sandwich bag kinda, so i definitely prefer the male condom better. the only reason we even tried it was because i got it for free from the health dept. it was just in a package with no instructions so maybe that's why it was so difficult to figure out. the video really does help.

CPZine I'm glad you at least tried it to see if it would work for you.
Me personally I don't think I would, if I need that protection anyway I'd rather just be the one to put a condom on him.

My main reason is this, if I had problems with that menstruation product, that diva cup/goddess cup thing (that was a big pain in the puss literally and annoying as hell), then I probably would find inserting the female condom a real horn-killer (for me). I really like the IDEA of the female condom, because frankly we know some men out there just don't want to wear them or take that responsiblity. I like the idea of a woman taking charge of a relatively easy to obtain birth control option if she needs it that also helps with safe sex.

BUT I just feel the way it's been produced so far can improve a lot. The material used and mainly the insertion process.
If they can make other sex products easier to use, they can DEFINITELY make this easier to put inside.

They got millions of condom brand made worldwide. Do they have millions of female condom brands made yet?

you make so many good points!!! they need to have more brands and different colors and market the hell out of it, if people are going to actually use it or at least try it. i also like the idea of it but i thought it was too slippery and hard to insert so i haven't used it since. i probably never will.

you used the diva cup? i thought about using that and my friend RAVED about it, but i think i would be way too mortified if it slipped out and i was just a bloody mess everywhere. i'm not even sure how it works. i'm going straight to youtube to see if there's a video too.
