There's been a shooting at Ft.Hood army base. 13 capped, at least. The shooter is [apparently] a Mulsim. Predictably, death threats to mosques have already started pouring in.
AND THE FLOOD GATES HAVETH OPENED!

was the shooter a soldier? and it's not so apparent that the shooter would be a muslim.
anyway, a link would've been helpful.

A Major, apparently. A psychiatrist.

This isn't the first Muslim American soldier that killed other Army personnel. Sgt. Hasan Akbar was convicted of killing two officers while deployed back in 2003. The world didn't end then and it won't end after this incident...

What slays me is that all my co-workers find the irony too "weird" to be (at least somewhat) logical.

"How can he be a psychiatrist and go crazy like that?" (pauses while reading) "Oh, oh -- he a Muslim. That make sense."

I could not remember that man's name for the life of me. Always wondered what happened to him; I figured he got convicted, but all of a sudden the coverage was over and done with (as is custom, when one is found guilty of so-called treason is excommunicated and expelled to the depths of a cell).

This brotha was on my campus when I was there, at UC Davis. I remember people talking about his Davis connections. I don't think I ever met him. Although it is HIGHLY possible since there weren't too many of us there. At any rate, thank you for reminding us of this case, Jah.

Is he still alive? The wiki article only notes that he would be appealing the death sentence handed down in 2006.

Sounds like the rednecks around here,
"Man goes on rampage in Florida and kills one. "How can he be a person go crazy like that?" (pauses while reading) "Oh, oh -- he a latino. That make sense."

In reference to the murder committed by Jason Rodriguez today in Florida. It's unfortunate that people are still seeing the heinous acts of a single nut job in a group as an excuse to paint the whole group as bad.

I will say this though and I know what I'm talking about. There are a lot of hypocritical muslims out there who will see this guy as some sort of hero but then say "OH, we believe in peace. That guy doesn't represent us, DOWN WITH AMERICA" if you stick a camera in their faces. Then watch 'em walk downtown, pick up their welfare check, their food stamps, and their WIC card all the while talking shit about this country even though they were too cowardly to stay and fight too improve the corrupt, impoverished country they left or even worse too scared to stand up and make their community in this country better. You gotta love freedom. There is no religious justification for murder in Islam.

Fucked up people will use any fucked up excuse to do fucked up things.

Aren't there only like nine people on Military death row? (and indeed google knoweth the answer--yes only 9 ppl [6 black, 2 white, 1 asian, all males] and one of them is Asan Akbar)

Anyway is this shooter still alive or did he commit suicide?

Nidal Malik Hasan is still alive, last I read. Took four bullets from returned fire, and is hospitalized, if I'm not mistaken.

...

Everything I found on Google, in relation to Akbar, is only as recent as 2006. Did find that website which lists the military death row inmates too, though.
