--------------->RAVES! PUT IT OUT THERE!<-----------<3

We have a vent area to say what's eating us.

How about the stuff that goes right?

How about the stuff that inspires us?

No matter how small

It could be a great meal

Extra money on your paycheck

Found $20 on the sidewalk

Helped a little kid learn to tie their shoes...

whatever.

my job interview went well. now all i have to do is wait. i'm excited about working and doing direct client care, but diapering adults sounds intense. but i'm a nurturer and am up for the challenge.

happy to have stumbled upon this quote recently:

"ain't no justice, just us"

which is less obvious than "no gods, no masters"
and less ambiguous as "one must imagine Sisyphus happy"

Heh.

"One must imagine Sisyphus happy" left me with a big WTF look on my face when I first read that essay. Had to read it again and again before anything sank in. Still left an odd aftertaste, but methinks I'm overdue for a re-read.

= The addictive thing about Amazon is getting the packages in the mail. It's Xmas morning everytime something arrives (and I don't even celebrate; respect to those who do).
I just got my cd of Martina Topley-Bird: The Blue God and dvds of The Wackness and Revolver. Gonna be a cool weekend.

This is truth (of the irrefutable kind). And since they list prices for independent sellers right there on the website, I've recouped a few gems I had to sell off years ago, some of them for less than the cost of shipping. So, I've a household cultural renaissance-type initiative under way, snatching up stuff that I expect to see out of print soon enough (like Samurai Shodown Anthology)...

^^^ any all times Nadia. ;>

And Rage P, ain't it great getting those lost classics back? I know all about stocking up the local pawnshop with my favs because rent was due. My Ultramagnetic MC's The Four Horseman just arrived & I'm geeked. I've got Justin Warfield Suprenaut coming in and I think I paid $1 for it (plus $4 shipping).

Big shouts to all the Cali folks that I saw and even the ones I didn't see on Saturday. GREAT to see the new faces and the old ones again.

Dude, when you said you had "the fight" at your house I thought you meant Pacman/Cotto, not the fight UFC was giving away to compete with boxing's dwindling market share. The wings, the quesadillas, conversation, people, and comedy obliterated any lingering disappointment.

This weekend was a great snapshot of what I need to do more of. Thank you Thank you Thank you.

Thanks also to Matthew and J Spooner for this whole venue.

=The smell of incense my husband is burning. Mmmm, it smells so good. It reminds me of when I was a college student.

=The fabulous dinner I made tonight and watching my family dig in. I love being a good mother sometimes.

=Wo'se Community Church!! We went to church as a family. It had been too long. Brothers and sisters who live an African-centered life are truly a blessing to be around.

=Compound Egret showing me things about L.A. that I probably would have missed if he hadn't. Whenever I see a dude passed out in the middle of the street, I'll always remember our time together. lol You's a cool dude.

=Rosenda's kindness, love, energy and cool spot. I had the honor of sleeping next to the most wonderful woman. *sigh* Sisters for life.

=Seeing the beautiful colors made by the sunset as I flew over the Pacific Ocean, on my way home from Los Angeles. What a beautiful sight, reaffirming the awe of life and nature. The plane flys right to the ocean after take off. Then it turns and follows the coastline for miles.
