Afro-punk

Due to the fact that I own and listen to very little Hip-Hop, the powers that be have decided to revoke my naming privileges. From this point forward, until such time I prove myself worthy of being Black, I am to be referred to as Jeff. You can call me other names, of course, folks have been calling me all kinds of names, but that's another story. So, to repeat, my name is no longer BlackJeff, just Jeff, until a can prove my Blackness. I will let you know when that is, but I wouldn't hold my breath, this my take a while.
Yours truly,
BlackJeff

Hmm...listening to white rappers wouldn't help much, huh?

Heh heh! I earned the right to call myself black again, albeit with one small caveat, I am now BlaqJeff. Get it? BlaqJeff with a Q. Hee hee. How stupid is that?
Well anyway, I spun some hip-hop last night and I didn't do that bad of a job, in fact, I did a hell of a job. Impressed the three white folks who were in attendance. So I am Blaq again and I am actually a better DJ than I was last week. Which is the most important aspect of this whole thing. I left my comfort zone and attempted something that I would not have tried otherwise.
There's a lesson in there somewhere.

Yup, That's the best advice there.

I don't listen to much hip-hop, so obviously I'm not Black enough. The fact that I'm a DJ doesn't help matters either. A black DJ who doesn't spin hip-hop...well how rare do you think that is?
Anyway, the owner of the lounge that I DJ at on Thursdays found out that I'm not a hip-hop head and he took my name away from me. That's OK. It's all in good fun. Next week I'm coming with the proper joints and hopefully I will be deemed worthy enough to regain my name.
Damn!
Can anyone recommend anything?

Is Pretty Ricky hip-hop?
Yes. I recommend you not give a fuck, Jeff.

Yes.. ..though I lack the ability to learn I understand.

Remember Blaque? When I was a kid I liked them. My, how things change.

Don't give into the stereotype; just keep being who you are.

I am black but I've never had a black card (and probably never will).

I love aesop, i'd listen to him before i listen to jay-z or someone.....but then again i'm not sure my opinion matters since i never really had my black card at all. My father listened to the beach boys and elvis i was doomed from the start.....

I wouldn't really want a black card, sounds restrictive. Are there asian cards? Japanese cards? Chinese cards? Vietnamese cards? Why were just have to be "black"? Why not "Domican cards" or "Ghanian cards" or "Nigerian cards". .. .."Ofuskee cards". .. . I did have a Tahlequah card but that wasn't related to race, just cultural background.

But in reality I literally do want my "indian" card, ID, license and license plate. Dammit.

Haha...I don't know if your post was meant to be humorous...But it was...You should laugh.

I've had my black card revoked since birth.

...Not sure I want it.

"Boondock Saints" = gross, boring concept for a movie.

All my pale friends told me that I'd love the movie; nobody had anything to say when I told them I couldn't finish it, was bored outta my mind. Not sure if they understood the reason, but the whole damn movie was essentially a blaxploitation fail, using Europe's favorite historical n*gg*rs (i.e., the Irish) as the bad guys you're supposed to want to root for. It was an masturbatory ode to the eurocentric's ego, circle-jerking on camera, in my opinion...

Methinks they're only making a sequel 'cause palefaces could use the collective pick-me-up; since we're all "equal" now -- black president at the head of the mast -- they want to wring the mythos of the super-charged, gun-slinging ethnic outlaw trope from black folks' hands.

There wasn't even any gunplay worth watching.

Not going to make much of a lofty conjecture here, but I can only assume there could be a buzz amongst blacks about that movie because of the "gangaster swagger." Same way black folk I've known would exalt mob movies, as if they had the means to emulate the plot in real life, as if Italians would be flattered by the Afro-American drool and praise.

Did I mention that I found it boring as all bloody hell?
