Afro-punk

Due to the fact that I own and listen to very little Hip-Hop, the powers that be have decided to revoke my naming privileges. From this point forward, until such time I prove myself worthy of being Black, I am to be referred to as Jeff. You can call me other names, of course, folks have been calling me all kinds of names, but that's another story. So, to repeat, my name is no longer BlackJeff, just Jeff, until a can prove my Blackness. I will let you know when that is, but I wouldn't hold my breath, this my take a while.
Yours truly,
BlackJeff

What did you do to get your black card revoked? Now I'm worried I may be next.

I don't listen to much hip-hop, so obviously I'm not Black enough. The fact that I'm a DJ doesn't help matters either. A black DJ who doesn't spin hip-hop...well how rare do you think that is?
Anyway, the owner of the lounge that I DJ at on Thursdays found out that I'm not a hip-hop head and he took my name away from me. That's OK. It's all in good fun. Next week I'm coming with the proper joints and hopefully I will be deemed worthy enough to regain my name.
Damn!
Can anyone recommend anything?

Is Pretty Ricky hip-hop?

Yes. I recommend you not give a fuck, Jeff.

Ya'll are slaying me today..

(Apparently, I am doing too much laughing at work; 25-20s are starting to look at me crazy).

On the real, though ... I seem to remember you describing your tastes as being in line with post-punk, no? Not that that's an all-encompassing tag, or a sufficient one for that matter, but I myself am always tongue-tied when people say, "Well, if you don't listen to hip-hop, what do you listen to?"

Gotta have walking papers wherever you go...

Wait. I listen to very little hip hop and own NONE. ....does that mean my black card has been gone for a long time?
Probably. I just want my human card.

Get some underground it'll be fine.

I remember one of my white study partners telling me that I wasn't black enough because I'll listen to a Jackie Chan album before hip hop. ...as if ALL black people behave the way dictated on TV. He was really ,suburban white, too.
That shit is sooooo funny to me.

(Where is my mind?)

How could I forget? Pastor Troy should do the trick as well.

The angrier, the blacker!!

(on the real, though -- his "Saddam" track does gets me a little amped.)

I stopped carrying mine because people thought it was fake.

He doesn't seem very angry.

No one can revoke your black card unless you get tired of being black. Wether you like hip hop or rap or not , you will always be black no matter what.
