So what was the last few shows you went to? Big small any kind of music. I wanna hear about it.

Yesterday my sis and niece and nephew invited me along with them to 2009 UCLA Reggae Jazz Festival, the first day is "Jam Day" now.

I really had an awesome time (there were tons of young and some older black folks and you know what a lot of "afropunk-esque" type of brothers and sisters).
Especially Ayo, Leela James, De La Soul and yes the amazing one herself, Erykah Badu.

Before that......I jammed hard and danced all night til I was in pain and out of breath at Hepcat show on my birthday last year!!!! Ya'll must see them live at least once if you into funky rhythm dance all night old school ska. Excellent music, excellent songs, excellent peformance.

That month before I went to the Blackest of The Black show. See my page for a ore complete description...........funny thing about that name is I doubt I saw more than a few Black people there but yes I know the black is for Black Metal. Ha ha. It was still a lot of fun and loud. I think I'd go next time just to see what other bands open for Danzig. And this time I finally got to see what Dimmu Borgir is all about. Quite fun show and GD and his bad attitude self really sounded good onstage with his band.

And the next show I'm going to in June is Raphael Saadiq, Femi Kuti, and Santogold. Whee!!

Things went according to plan and I got to see Man Man and Gogol Bordello at Ram's Head Live! last night. Shit was insane. I got 4 different cups of something cold spilled on my head (one was a rather delish strawberry daiquiri), got pressed into a sweaty half naked boy sandwich for most of the show, had someone stick their fingers directly into my butt in the pit, lost my friend and my sense of hearing for most of the evening, I somehow still have big toes, I'm just recently got feeling back in my shoulders and I still smell slightly like a moose.

It was my first time going to a show that big and that crowded and it was totally worth it!

Gogol Bordello!!! Love them!! Have you seen that documentary about their singer Eugene Hutz going back to the Ukraine to visit places from his childhood and family etc. "The Pied Piper of Hutzovina". That guy is a TRIP.

Gossip.

Beth Ditto et al always deliver a good show.

They're officially the band I've seen the most times now.

Two weeks ago, Coheed at house of blues in AC. i fucking hate that venue. Me and my friend Jackie after being stared at all weird by the people in front of us. waited in the first line for an hour and a half were completely fucked over. they let half of the first line go in first ( all people who were in line for hours) stop right when me and my friend got to the front and let the line next to us go in ( all people who showed up at the last five minuets) and then the line nest to that one go until they got back to us. Then if that wasn't enough i had some drunk girl sneeze in my face and wouldn't apologize for it.

Besides all of that the show was awesome and they played everything i wanted to hear. I love Coheed *swoon*

next show is Dredg next month cant wait!!!!

heh, I had to tell myself not to see them before they have new material, I don't know how many times i've seen em
The shows are too much fun
Have you heard anything yet (except heavy cross)? I'm wary about it

Yea I think they were using this tour to test out their new stuff.

They've definitely gone down a different road... it's a bit more disco, a lot more synth, and some of the songs were really poppy which really caught me off guard. One of them that was just plain bad and I wouldn't want to listen it to again. Couldn't really hear the Rick Rubin influence. I was also shocked to see the new bass player - when did that happen?! If I'd known they were looking for a geeky black bass player I would have applied. Album's out in a week or two, so we'll see (but the show has made me lower my expectations).

I'm so late with the response...Gil was great! He cracked a few jokes, gave some nice anecdotes, and the female pianist he had on stage with him was excellent. He appears to being doing pretty well. I dragged my dad along as an early father's day gift...but, really it's because my friends are whack and didn't want to go lol.

My last shows include Thrill Kill Kult, Yaz, and some locals (cue plugs for my friends - Luke Wesley, Swati, Jack Grace, and the recently reunited Steak).

I wanted to go see the NIN / Jane's Addiction show, but missed it. I'm also bummed I may miss the U2 shows this year since I've gone to all of their tours since "Joshua Tree".

the Feelies @ Millennium Park for freeeeeee
really cute to see kids of all ages at this thing and of course a security guard chasing off a lone spastic dancer caused the crowd to storm down to the front to dance. :] oh, and two encores w/ 'what goes on' and 'paint it black' and an rem cover...pretty neat.

That is great to hear Gil Scott Heron is still doing this music. A long, long time ago my sister and I got tickets to see that film of a reggae festival show in Jamaica called "Cool Runnings", and because my sister got sick the last minute, I asked my father to come with me (and we didn't get along too wel around then.)

Actually it turned out to be really fun and surprising because guess who happened to be in that filmed concert lineup?
Gil-Scott Heron! Right after Mutabaruka and Sugar Minott, Gil did a full on set. My dad really enjoyed the film of him and he actually enjoyed some of the other reggaae artists especially Mutabaruka and some of his spoken word stuff.
