Am I the only one who eaves drops in bars?

These guys (who were way older than I am) were discussing blues and rock. Something I know very little about.

The comments that stood out to me were

Zep plagiarized some Robert Johnson stuff and some other artist's stuff too.

Jimmy Page was the first P. Diddy. He sampled like no other (except he had to actually play his samples, and didn't give credit all the time). He lifted A LOT of shit, some of which are central to Led Zep's greatest hits.

The main guitar riff to "Stairway to Heaven" apparently came from a song called "Taurus" by Spirit (their guitar player was one of the few direct Hendrix proteges, Randy California).

I wouldn't go as far as saying fuck Led Zeppelin because they are plagiarists, but one may be upset about them because they didn't give credit where credit was due until they got sued by Muddy Waters. I read both books on Led Zeppelin and Muddy Waters whom I am both supreme fans of their works and credit them as influences of mine, but Led Zeppelin was more of an exaggerated musical idea of Muddy Waters anyway....and not all of their songs sound the same....there was a lot of variety in their works and Bonzo was one hell of a drummer....without him, they wouldn't be where they are....just a thought, Black Sabbath stole riffs too, but its nothing different than Junior Mafia and Little Kim ripping off of Luther Vandross and Kanye West ripping off Michael Jackson in which Kanye lipsynch's anyway and doesn't have much talent on his own....we already saw his lipsynching show on Saturday Night Live....or was it America's Bloopers

I assume the worst about most bands until I hear otherwise. Therefore, I just enjoy the music.
The business side of music has been crap for a long time and yes to it does take lawsuits to get credit where it's due (i.e. Muddy Waters and Martha Wash).

I doubt that will change. Too many half rate bands and artists out there who already do sucky lame boring covers of great songs.

WDWWA............you ought know by now, people don't care how stupid they sound and look on camera until it embarrasses them or they get in trouble for it. Just the way life is. ;)
