I was i guess you can say privelaged to have a discussion with a group of hispanic women. Some identified with African roots while others did not. The one thing they did agree on was how they felt that were a prize as a female. But not to their males, african america, west indian black men. Female after female had a story about how black men praised them for their "good" hair and their pretty skin. And although many of them were my complexion they admitted that they felt better than black women and mainly because of what black men have put in their heads. What was the saddest part, was that the african american and west indian women could not say the same. Yet, they had stories of how their black men made them feel like they were lucky to have a black man it is worst if you black man has some type of success or degree. It hurt me because I feel like this also. So I want to hear what my brothers have to say about this.

No matter what happens or what you do, someone will always have something negative to say. You're on the net. Surf over to one of the gossip sites and see what gets said about someone like Kat Von D or Jlo.

If you don't feel good about yourself, that's really something you can work on. What are some things THAT YOU HAVE CONTROL OVER that would improve the way you feel about yourself? Is reading(and writing) a bunch of hateful blog and message board posts helping?

Stuff that gives me a positive feeling about myself and/or relieves stress:
Exercise
Cleaning and getting rid of clutter
Long drives at night
Reading about other people who have succeeded
Spending time outdoors

good luck with it.

The vast majority of Black men date and marry Black women. Focusing on a very small percentage of interracial couples and trying to project that as the norm doesn't make sense. Like EC said - do you, work on making you the best you can be. Tripping on what everyone else is doing is just a distraction.

Just clean for 30 minutes, that elevates endorphins.

I remember that time in my relationship thread Ivfelyn told me the world wasn't going to change for me; so I'd better start bowing down an excepting all that is wrong and try to get a man ANY man because woman is nothing if she doesn't have a man or conform to the latest social/beauty standards. Sometimes the small mindedness is just overwhelming.

The level of self-hatred coming from some brothers can boggle the mind. All I can say is look for love where you want to find it and have it be on your terms. Not all black men are value one race of women over others.

Certain noses are like an aphrodisiac to me. Plus, personality-wise I have a lot in common with the stereotypical passive aggressive Jewish male.
