the headline that caught my eye this evening were the two arrests of heavily armed white supremacists involved in an assassination plot outside of Denver:

Threats are to be expected to both of these men, in this presidential race. Thankfully, there ought to be extra security 24-7 to meet this challenge.

Other than that: ain't nobody gonna know how effective these men will be in running our country, until they are actually in office.

This is true of every single politician on earth, wanting to get elected to local, state, or federal government office.

A candidate can say whatever and will sound good to the public. That which will get him or her elected. But not even they know exactly what will happen and what they will do until they are actively in that chosen office. Unless they can read the future in every exact detail and plan ahead. With that fact, I always reserve my excitement at any seemingly likeable candidate, and focus on the practical, like any job applicant at any other position.

Have they a lot of experience at similar duties in government service (and to my mind, yes, I think someone can learn a lot working effectively in local gov't that WILL prepare them a certain amount for fed'l gov't service)? Were they effective at what they set out to do in those prior postions? What is their track record over time: were they consistent in their actions proving what their beliefs are supposed to be?

That is about the best educated decision we the public can make, when chosing the candidates we want to vote into office. Remainder of that is onstage, which can and is routinely planned out and written out for that person or persons by a professional writer.

I'm voting in that man and or woman, not their press agent, and certainly not their staff writer. I enjoy hearing some motivating words, but I try hard not to let it sway me from finding out the facts that are there about that person's real background.

So far, I am way cool with the Obama and Biden ticket. I dont' think either man is perfect, but I think together they have a great combination of experience, ideals that I totally agree with, and the potential to keep learning and growing to what ever will be necessary to effectively run the country and work the existing government people who work to make things happen that need to for all our survival.

It's a chance you have to be willing to take by voting for them: and yes, I am willing to take that chance.

This makes me realize a lot of both areas mentioned are not that far away from each other.

It's sad that Obama's ppl and liberal pundits chose to go after her on experience...that's one of Obama's weak points too. And then McCain's ppl could go on about how they're in the right order (experience > spirit) while Obama's team is flip flopped (spirit > experience).

Her experience should be questioned. I mean, come on, this woman was Mayor of a town with less than half the number of people in attendance at your average weeknight NBA game. She's not qualified to be a heartbeat from the presidency. She has 'executive experience', but it's not relevant when you consider the fact that Alaska has more Elk than people. The people running the McCain campaign must be on crack; they hammer Obama on not having National Security experience, yet McCain picks Palin.

Listen, she is as qualified as anyone else to sit in the White House and be Commander-in-Chief.

The qualifications are:
Be a citizen of the USA, born in the USA.
Be 35 years of age or older.

I think that's it.

I hope the 'disaffected' Hillary supporters realize that this ticket is anti-women. And McCain has strong ties to the oil industry. Not too sure about Palin, but she does support drilling in ANWR. So I forsee an administration that's favorable to the Oil Industry. (Assuming they win)

y'know not all women are pro-choice or even all that pro-Feminist when it comes to traditional talking points.

also, McCain has a shit-ton more experience than Obama. O's camp downplays that by saying McC will be more of the same...so they should tread lightly if they want Obama to be seen as the candidate with better judgment--experience and career politician background be damned...especially when it comes to those on-the-fence socially moderate women or working class white voters who liked Hillary but dislike his blackass...

while i think she's alright for how and why she got into politics and rose through the offices when she was perfectly ok w/ being a fish store owner and mother--who knows if Palin will "get it" when it comes to continental (i.e. immigration) and international politics (e.g. bullheadedly stupid like Bush/Cheney towards N. Korea), but then again...is she going to be McCain's top advisor on any of these issues? lol...probably not....like Palin asked herself, wtf is she going to be doing as VP aside from waiting for this 71yo cancer survivor to die while in office--an office most ppl ought to think she isn't qualified for (somehow I forgot how close to death McCain is, lullz)...

Being Governer of a state with more elk than people sill gives her more experience than Obama. This election just became very interesting...you have two stodgy old white men and two young, energetic canidates..though both are light on experience. I almost can't wait for the debates.
