so i'm talking to a friend of mine whom i am interested in dating. he's black as well & he said that he's shocked that i like him. i asked why, seeing as we have a lot of things in common. he said that he thought that he didn't fit the "type" of guy i'd usually like.

personally, i don't have a "type" because i try not to label people [i do but it doens't affect my friendships or social circle]. the only requirements for me to like you is to be funny & honest. how do you all feel about "type" dating? [stereotypes, race, religion, etc.]

I'm attracted to a wide range of looks. But the common denom is usually a quirky sense of humor. Intellectual without being eliteist. Kind hearted, and corny romantic.

The rest is secondary.

I like deep voices, and bright eyes.

I do have to elaborate a little. I mean I am having this siutation on line with this black barney fife who is constantly badgering me. There's always this whole 'you never know' sort of thing that floats around every interaction you have with people. However, I am trying to not get caught up in the whole ' well I'm not doing anything else' frame of mind, and really make an effort to find and date men that I am actually interested in and attracted to and have things in common with other than skin color. I live in a suburban hell hole and I may have mentioned that I get alot of Levert members, and church deacons or mushy mouthed durty souf boyz trying to talk to me. All I can say is EWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! It makes me sound like Cher from Clueless; I know, but AS IF! I feel I have always just sort of convinced myself I had to like this dude because he liked me. But that era is over. I have a thing for afropunk dudes, artists, creative expressive types. Naturally it's mad hard to find ones without emotional problems and or substance abuse issues.I'd love to date a man who loved hip hop more than anything, as long as he was open to experiencing the world at large and not just tunneled into only one thing. I can't do average Joe anymore. Been there, done that---over it.

(does nervous Rog from "What's Happenin'?" laugh) ah haw-haw-HA! Oh boy...

I personally don't have a type...but I think it's ridiculous for those who do...if you're in like or in love with another person...well damn it be in like or in love with them regardless of how they may come...if a guy can get me to notice them...I'll definitely give them a chance...but no assholes...in other words...arrogance...lol...yep yep

Not necessarily, but I know what I like :)

Its mainly important for the person to be on the same wavelength as me.

I don't have a type but to my dismay people often assume I'm only into white guys. I never understood that but I guess it's because I'm "different". I like black guys just not the "gangster" ones.

In general, I find myself attracted to all types of guys regardless of race or religion. I must admit I'm a sucker for "funky fresh" fashionable guys, extremely smart, creative types(poets, musicians, photographers), guys with dreads or Afros, tattoos, skateboarders, bmxers, snowboarders etc.

I often find that I can only like someone but so much physically but when I discover more about them and what their into they get more and more attractive.

I have always been like that too. What would always make a me a like a guy was talking and getting to know him.
If we vibed with our personalities, THEN I'd find them attractive somehow. Cause I've met guys who LOOKED drop dead gorgeous, then find out they have an awful annoying personality, and boom! they don't look so good to me anymore. Seriously!

I was just talking to a friend of mine last night and he threw on me that I like the out-there artsy type. Just 'cause that's what he sees me talking to when when we hang out? Maybe since I still talk about that dancer I met at the art show with the brown/orange hair and medallions and weird symbol on her back with the colorful top on that says she's going down to Columbia whose number I lost. Hey, doesn't mean I'm not open...

I simply get bored with the 'McKnight chicks' that I've run into that he's accustomed to. The women who have Brian McKnight cds in their collection and doesn't get much more adventurous than that. Maybe they'll go cRaZeee and have some Mary J. Blige in there, oooooo...

yeah i do..girls that don't lie to you..that's always a turn on...hmm I dig artists ..girls that like magic...being an illusion artist,it kinda sucks when the girl you're with hates magic...I like girls that like good bands & that can hang in dive bars or they can kick it in sweat pants & a t-shirt & they don't mind leaving the house like that...girls that can laugh at themselves..girls that can turn off their phone & don't give a shit about texting every 2 minutes...hmmm..I like tall, short, curvy, skinny, light ,dark girls..i don't really care,no one is perfect & as long as you have a twisted sense of humor & aren't easily offended I think we're gonna get along just fine...just make sure all your body parts & hair are real, cause I WILL find out!

Everyone has a type, and that type changes over time because we change over time.

For example, I wanted someone that was into African spirituality a few years ago. That no longer appeals to me. However, there are some things that I think are going to stay the same as long as I am seeking a lady to call my own. That is, I want a kind-hearted lady that has the ability to think for herself, and the courage to be herself. :)

Lookwise- I cant say that I have a "type" as my tastes have been all over the map as of late...Only common thread is that the people I tend to be most attracted to are intelligent, down-to-earth, free-spirited, agnostic and kinda on the positive side. However, I do tend to look a bit harder @ the tall, athletic & clean-shaven men...lol

It would be pretty cool though if I met someone who liked blaxploitation flicks, foreign films, old school soul music & red dwarf...:P
