so i'm talking to a friend of mine whom i am interested in dating. he's black as well & he said that he's shocked that i like him. i asked why, seeing as we have a lot of things in common. he said that he thought that he didn't fit the "type" of guy i'd usually like.

personally, i don't have a "type" because i try not to label people [i do but it doens't affect my friendships or social circle]. the only requirements for me to like you is to be funny & honest. how do you all feel about "type" dating? [stereotypes, race, religion, etc.]

I think that I have a fantasy "type" and then there's the type of man that I think is good for me. Sometimes that ain't the same thing.

Well I'll be damned, I must be new Ricardo Montlebaum around here, because I am one huge dork! Ladies, the queque forms to the left....(crickets)...

Ahem, As to my type, hmmm...I'm not usually in any position to dictate terms, but I would like to start dating women of color more often, as opposed to the hippy white chicks that are usually attracted to me. I like a woman with a dark sense of humor, or someone who I can live in a childlike fantasy world with. Music is a big thing for me, I'm pretty obsessive, so I tend to judge people by the kind of music they listen to. It might not be right, but I spend 90% of my life listening to music, if we can't do that togethor, well, what's the point.

Someone come to the NY Comic Con with me in February! That might be a good little Afropunk meet-up in general.

my type is a man. haha, sounds broad but i like men, not boys. SO i htink that is an umbrella of stuff but I'm so tired of bs and being dissapointed. honestly. I would like to keep my options open.
people often look at a guy and tell me oh he looks like someone you'd like and as much as i hate to admit theyre right. i find that person usually physically attractive (guys that wear glasses, dreads, afros, certain styles, some skateboarders etc etc). But of course it has to go beyond that. I've had crushes and liked guys that dont fit into thos caategories and i liked them all based on thier personalities. And often the ones that fit into the categories listed always or many times (maybe 1/2) tend to be straight up a**holes .Types get you into trouble and limit haha.
so ill go with what i started with...my type is a man.

I'm attracted to a wide range of looks. But the common denom is usually a quirky sense of humor. Intellectual without being eliteist. Kind hearted, and corny romantic.

The rest is secondary.

I like deep voices, and bright eyes.

I do have to elaborate a little. I mean I am having this siutation on line with this black barney fife who is constantly badgering me. There's always this whole 'you never know' sort of thing that floats around every interaction you have with people. However, I am trying to not get caught up in the whole ' well I'm not doing anything else' frame of mind, and really make an effort to find and date men that I am actually interested in and attracted to and have things in common with other than skin color. I live in a suburban hell hole and I may have mentioned that I get alot of Levert members, and church deacons or mushy mouthed durty souf boyz trying to talk to me. All I can say is EWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! It makes me sound like Cher from Clueless; I know, but AS IF! I feel I have always just sort of convinced myself I had to like this dude because he liked me. But that era is over. I have a thing for afropunk dudes, artists, creative expressive types. Naturally it's mad hard to find ones without emotional problems and or substance abuse issues. I'd love to date a man who loved hip hop more than anything, as long as he was open to experiencing the world at large and not just tunneled into only one thing. I can't do average Joe anymore. Been there, done that---over it.
