18 yr olds dating 14-15-16-17 year olds (or seniors dating freshmen)- "wrong"?

So l was just wondering what you think about an 18 year old in high school dating someone younger than them in the same school. Or, maybe a senior dating a freshman or sophomore? I, for one, have never dated before, yet I know kids in my senior class who have with sophomores + freshmen. Personally, I never viewed it as much of a problem. So I would like to know where you guys are with this whole thing. Peace!

I've done it. When I was a senior in H.S. my girlfriend was a junior.

If there weren't laws placing restrictions already... I wouldn't have a problem with it at all.

The thing is, you have to see it this way. The freshmen dating 18-year-olds and copulating... are dating criminals.

If they're not respecting the law, they're probably not good anyway.

I just don't think they should be placed under the "sex offender" umbrella if it's two consenting humans, cause when you're a teenager, you know if you wanna have sex or not.

It's legal and all, but not a good idea. There is a massive change each year between 14, 15, 16, 17,18 and so on, those are the years you're realllly growing up. In one year you can completely change your priorities, friends, goals etc.. I remember only caring about myspace and my bangs as a 16 year old, and somehow matured like all hell by that time the next year. As an 18 year old you're probably worried about and interested in more substantial shit than a 16 year old, and the relationship would be mismatched and frustrating.

Plus boobs dont fully develope until about 18

When I a junior in high school. I remember when a new group of freshmen came. I remember all the senior and juniors boys. Started going after those 14 and 15 year girls. I really surpised that no teacher said anything about it. Cents most of the boys were 18.

When I was 16 I dated a 23 year old military guy for a year. The relationship eventually fizzled itself out.

Thats the problem. When you're in school and you date someone who is in your "school range" it doesn't seem wrong to you at all. And it shouldn't. In your eyes that person is on the same level as you. But in the eyes of the law, you are an adult and that person is a child.

I think due to this factor grade schools should seriously be changed. 14 year old children shouldn't be around 18 year olds. Thats just trouble however you slice it. The older I've gotten the more I've come to realize how much a year or two makes in maturity and understanding. When I was 14 or 17 I wouldn't have believed it but now at the age of 20+ I've come to realize that my mind has changed quite a bit in the past few years.

It varies. I think mine were done at about age 16. Then again I started my period at, what, like 8 or 9?

Do you guys think middle school should be changed back from 6th grade to 9th or 7th through 9th again?

I think that would make a little more sense. 7th grade to 9th grade was filled with like minded mentality...

I was 17 as senior in high school, my 9th grade girlfriend was 14. I dated her for 5 years, we broke up during her first year in college, my 3rd year in the Marines - no big deal.

Took a sista to the prom when I was 22, I wasn't the only brotha legally drinking in the bar while our dates took a million photos with their friends, again - no big deal. Having a good job let me rent a nice car and a suite for the night - 10x better than my own prom.

Johnny law isn't going to be breathing down your neck about it unless you pull some Chris Brown stupidity. I'd be more worried about a pissed off mom or dad who is tripping off the age difference.

Another sign that you're guilty until proven innocent in this country. And I would dare my daughter to date a marine while she was still in high school.

I don't think it's inherently wrong, but there CAN be a big difference in maturity in just a few years. 18 and 17 or even 16 sometimes probably isn't so bad; they're still in the same basic age range & they've usually passed the age of consent in most states.15 & 14 are usually illegal and there's a GIANT difference for some people. If not a difference in general maturity, then a difference in what's wanted out of the relationship. A 14-year-old girl may be thinking about her first kiss while a 19-year-old boy is likely trying to get laid. That can just be trouble. I kicked it with guys way older than me when I was a youngster, so I know it's not always bad, but as a general practice, I think people at the end of high school should stick to a year or two age diff. College is coming up, who needs a sophomore girlfriend?
